The Verdict
Let’s start with the only positive: the staff here are fantastic. They were polite, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. It’s genuinely a shame that such a great team is stuck working in a property this bad.
This place is terrible and does not live up to the Sandman brand in any way. Northland Properties should be embarrassed to have their name on this location.
The Property & Rooms
The entire hotel is extremely dated. It looks like what used to be the newer, more modern wing of the hotel was actually split off and transformed into a regular rental building, leaving hotel guests with the scraps.
The Rooms: Tiny, cramped, and desperate for a renovation.
The Bed: Uncomfortable and felt like it had seen way too many years of use.
The Windows: Single-pane glass that lets in every single ounce of outside noise and temperature.
The Bathroom: Barely functional. The plumbing felt like it was hanging on by a thread.
The Location & Safety Concerns
The hotel is located in an area with a severe homeless and drug crisis, making the entire stay feel sketchy and stressful.
⚠️ Warning to future travelers: Do NOT leave a single thing inside your vehicle. Car break-ins are a massive risk here.
Every single time you walk out the front doors, you are immediately approached by people asking for money. Because of the cheap, single-pane windows, you hear everything happening on the street.
