We were greeted by a very friendly front desk clerk upon our early arrival. The room was not yet ready for us (we arrived two hours before our check-in time) but the man at the front desk said we could leave our bags in the supplied locker room and our room would be ready after we went for a short walk.
When we came back, the room was ready, even though we were still half an hour before check-in time. The front desk clerk helped carry my wife’s bag up the narrow stairs to our room on the third floor. Very helpful. He even produced a tea kettle for us to use during our stay. Other staff at the hotel proved to be very friendly and helpful as well, giving suggestions on what to see and where to go.
The room was clean, spacious (my wife and I shared a room with three single beds (we only used two) so it was quite open and not at all cramped. While the room has been well used, the beds were comfortable and clean. What more could you ask for.
The toilet and shower were next door (we were in Room 5) and shared with four other rooms but was kept clean.
The provided breakfast was very good with cereal, juices, hard boiled eggs, bread, cheese and deli meats as well as coffee or tea.
The hotel is centrally located close to Vondelpark, the largest public park in Amsterdam, and the Leidseplein, one of the busiest centres for nightlife in the city.
