We really enjoyed the location. Very central. The Sticky Wicket pub is great fun and they were accommodating to increasing the family area seating since the world cup was playing. The room is a little bit older but well maintained with comfortable beds. Our room had an AC, and it worked well. My only disappointment was that my teenagers were not allowed in the Games room. Please consider some early hours where well behaved older kids can join their parents for a couple of games. I completely understand (and applaud) adults only after a certain hour.

Great location and clean, comfortable rooms. Love the attached bars, easy walking distance to everything you need to do/see. We will stay again.

Staff weee very helpful

The hotel is old and so is everything inside. Room AC sounds like a truck. Really difficult to sleep with AC on, and the room is quite stuffy without it. The area is noisy, but if you keep the windows closed the noise is manageable. Parking is an open lot across the street, which was a plus for us, because of our tall vehicle. We had bikes on the vehicle overnight and everything was still there in the morning! Lots of police patrols on the street. Probably safer than a parkade. The hotel staff was great!

The location and room overall was wonderful. The only thing that needs improving is the sofa beds. Even a foam topper would make a world of difference.

Overall great stay. Rooms are clean. Bathrooms are clean and bright. Staff friendly. I didn’t have time to use any amenities. Only negatives were length of time to check in at desk. A lot of paperwork & computer work it seemed. We stayed two nights not consecutive as we attended a wedding north of Victoria one night. Our view was a brick wall directly out our window both stays, and both times we had to call for our TV to be fixed. They did come immediately to fix it to their credit. Overall nice place. We would stay again.

The hotel was great, rooms were clean and large. Love the different restaurants property offers. There are some sketchy characters outside the hotel up and down the street but we had zero problems

Right in the heart of Victoria. Easy access to just about everything. Parking was off site but free and just around the corner. Coffee creamer sucked, one of those packets of powdered cream that last forever. Coffee maker was great.

Unfortunately, our experience at Strathcona Hotel was disappointing. The bathroom was not cleaned properly when we arrived, which made a poor first impression. Throughout the night and again early in the morning, there was a lot of noise coming from the hallway, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The check-in process was also much longer than it needed to be. The receptionist spent a considerable amount of time explaining that we would be responsible for paying for any damage to the room or hotel property. While I completely understand having such a policy, we had already provided a security deposit, which is the standard way hotels handle this. The lengthy explanation felt unnecessary. Overall, considering the hotel’s very basic facilities and furnishings, the check-in process and strict emphasis on potential damages felt out of proportion. I hope the hotel improves both its housekeeping and guest experience.
