I love to go sightseeing with my family members and I have stayed in countless hotels. I do not use to write negative feedback but my experience with this hotel is the worst among all, making me to feel that I have to write something. First of all, the receiptionist was impolite and even rude. I was told that there was a charge for the carpark. When I tried to ask the fee for parking, I could not understand why I gave the impression to the receptionist that I did not want to pay the fee. She mocked at me in a way that I could not pay. As a solicitor, I think I did never intend to evade my liability of whatever nature. Second, I rented a family room. It was a nice room but located at the 4th floor, Seeing that we have 7 baggage, she just directed me, cooly, that to take them upstairs. She told me the time for breakfast. Because her English has a thick foreign accent, I could not hear clearly. When I tried to clarify the time but it seemed to me that she did not even want to talk to me. Or perhaps Icould not understand her English for the first time, she felt she had no responsibility to clarify. When my daughter came to the reception and wanted to ask if there was a lift to go up to the 4th Floor, before she could finish her sentence, the receptionist bluntly stopped her and shouted no. I am aggrieved by the receptionist. Although my room is good and the breakfast is satisfactory, I am sure I would not stay at this hotel again.

Charming. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Nice continental breakfast included in price of the room. Walking distance to the university and center.

Breakfast had some nice elements, like the apple tarts, different nice jam selections, and the blueberry muffins. The croissants were dry and not tasty. The bread was cheap and less interesting. The parking is expensive, and their logic unreasonable to charge only those who didn't book through their site. By the way, no shower in our room... a bit 19th century, I think. Mattresses could be firmer. SO many pillows available, it would be a waste to do all that laundry, and changer trash bin bags just for the little trash that was in them. Not eco-friendly. The rest was positive, as per my ratings.

A wonderful hotel at a very reasonable price. Helpful staff, clean rooms, plenty of hot water, tea and coffee in the room and a breakfast included. The pictures don't do this place justice. Yes, it doesn't look as modern as other hotels, but this is part of its charm. Definitely worth a look.

Family room was spacious and interesting, offered as attic conversion. Great view. Lacked a shower. Bar area is very lived in but comfortable.

Reception staff very helpful. But it wasn’t clear enough during booking that car parking is charged at £18 overnight if not booked directly.

Restaurant food was good. Breakfast was stock continental fare. The staff were very professional and friendly. What lets it down is the decor and cleanliness. The blind in my bathroom was mouldy and it doesn’t look like the place has been decorated since the 80’s. This is even more annoying when you consider the price. I paid almost £500 for 2 standard doubles and they weren’t worth half that. Would go again but only after a major revamp.
