This place was a bit of a surprise - easy, not too large/busy, comfortable and great location to get to all parts of Melbourne.

A high quality Hotel, would definitely stay here again. Exceptional cleanliness, comfortable King Size bed, lovely room, helpful staff in a quiet location with parkland nearby and the sound of Cockatoos outside. The tram stop immediately opposite gave easy access into the city and the on site restaurant and bar were very welcome after a busy day. With heavy luggage a lift to all floors made for easy access.

Check-in was speedy once I found the entrance. Was late night but it wasn’t very well lit or signed from outside. Room was in good condition, but couldn’t work out the air conditioning to get it to a pleasant temperature. It just went from very cool to very hot. Pillows are very comfortable, but I found the mattress too firm so struggled to sleep.

This is typical of world we live in. New year eve is fireworks display and they have a balcony one in use and another in darkness or not utilised, So, what happened when we enquired about the balcony not in use? was the people who paid for it did not want any other people there. That is what has become of everything nothing is free for everyone but not this hotel you have to pay for the free view. What is the world coming to.

The actual room was pretty good. I like having kettle as well as coffee maker so the tea doesn't have that coffee tang. The check in process and check out process was good and staff in that area were good. Where they really let themselves down is the food and the service of the food. The breakfast buffet was OK, but dinner was brutal. Menu never changes for the whole time I was there, to get a waiter to take an order is a work of art. When they eventually (and I mean eventually) take the drink order, it was a 15 - 20 minute wait, and having to re ask where it was before that arrived, the food much longer. The food quality at dinner was poor and per above comment, the service was dreadful. The actual people were polite and nice enough, but clearly no proper training - no one comes back to the table to see how food is. I refused to pay for part of my food as it was not edible. They made some shoestring fries that were so soggy and full of grease - a real shame as the front desk people were nice, the rooms good and the location great too.

The stay was for medical reasons so our activity was confined to the Element and Epworth Freemasons. The food overall was largely Asian origin so we didn't use that facility. The absence of English Breakfast tea in the morning - well!! The bed was very comfortable but my wife thought the room was a little small - that could be because we were confined there for quite a few days.

Hotel staff were lovely. The facilities are getting a little rundown. Air con in room was not working however I was moved swiftly and provided a compensatory gift. A good stay but could do with some uplift in the rooms.
