In all fairness, this was high season so prices were probably elevated and affected our expectations. However, having grown up with very little, I know it doesn’t cost a lot to keep something clean. And when you’re running a business, it should still be maintained well. The door to our unit would not close fully—left about a half inch gap. The ceiling fan wobbled so much that it seemed like a hazard to anyone sleeping underneath it. Both of those could be forgiven if they were the only issues. However, the room was incredibly unclean, especially the bathroom and shower area. I am bald and my wife is blonde and yet the shower was riddled with long dark black hairs not just in one spot but at least half dozen or more spots in the shower and on the bathroom floor and on the toilet. This was a one night stay so there was no sense in complaining and trying to move when we only had a few hours before our flight the next morning. But the pricing was exceptionally high for an exceptionally poor experience. I will say the little pool area looks very inviting and charming. We didn’t have time to use it however. I’ll also say the front desk staff was very friendly, patient, & helpful upon check-in.

but wouldn't recommend it now...
way out priced for the standard
300 + bucks for an old - outdated - poorly presented room
only soap, shampoo and conditioner supplied
no body lotion/ hairdryer/ no plug in the sink
lighting was terrible / colouring on the TV was dreadful
the 'old' Roey is definitely that!

These rooms should be at least $50 cheaper considering they haven’t been updated in decades…very shabby, although the bed was clean and comfortable. The tv remote was very difficult to navigate, and I was unable to locate any of the streaming services that were available in the last room I stayed in here. There was also no compendium anywhere in the room to assist.
Otherwise, location is good…right in Chinatown and close enough to the airport to walk if I was so inclined, however I used the airport transfer service gratefully.

Pretty awful. Broken, run down, noisy. Most staff were back packers with no interest but some polite and helpful.
Only plus was the food at Pearlers was decent.

Food ok, bed comfortable, but that is the best we could say about our stay.
We had a superior room at $409 a night, and it was like a cave with a view of the swimming pool, there was nothing supplied apart from tea or coffee, a basic motel has better room facilities .
We were kept awake for three nights, Thur, Fri and Sat, by bands from hell, we wondered how much they were paying the hotel for playing there.
The advertisements for the hotel were nothing like what you get, the room was a bitter disappointment, and the fees and taxes are not included in advertised price.
Our room wasn’t even secure when we got there, the door locks were just about to fall off and the security chain was not attached to anything.
All in all a bitter disappointment.

Stay here if you hate sleeping , way too noisy , walls are paper thin , could hear the guy next door snoring his face off. Music till the wee hours 2am . Perfect if I was still in my 20’s though

Checkin was okay but room was in dire need of a Renovation and the shower was disgustingly full of mould and fans covered in dust. I tried to move rooms but was told I couldn’t. A deep clean was promised but never happened, in fact the room service left me short of towels which I then had to follow up. Verandahs and grounds grubby with rubbish laying around. At $350 a night a complete rip off.
