Ours was an overnight stay on our way to Prince Edward Island. We were attracted to the Victorian style of the B & B and the interior had been restored beautifully, particularly in the public spaces on the first floor. The staff was friendly and helpful.
There was a restaurant within walking distance, and we went there for dinner after a long day of driving. Breakfast, in the morning, was tasty and we were on our way the next day.

Sean was the owners son and he was just great at getting you registered and settled in. He also made a wonderful breakfast in the morning. I would stay there again.

Enjoyed our stay at By the River B&B. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Nice porch for coffee in the am or beverage at night and within walking distance to downtown. The only thing is that the TV did not work in our room as the network was not functioning, was not told this when checking in. Would stay again.

Good size room with a king size bed. Generally happy with the room but pillows were flat for me but my spouse was ok with them. The only thing I thought should be improved was the breakfast as eggs, bacon and toast were cold. One person was the chef , waiter, and check out person for several people. They should have more staff for breakfast.

Le site extérieur est très négligé. Dommage car la localisation est super sur la rivière. L’accueil a été très mauvais par une jeune asiatique pas souriante qui nous a même fermé la porte au nez pour ne pas être dérangée. La chambre était moyenne, le lit confortable et la douche et les serviettes agréable. Le déjeuner pas très bon et servi encore de façon médiocre par la même asiatique. Il y avait un jeune garçon aux cuisine plus gentil. À la sortie on nous demande un pourboire minimum de 15% ou $30 sur le total!!! Plus jamais!!!!

Stay away- the description is very deceiving. This is far from being an Inn and Spa. We had booked 2 nights and left after first night. We would not have stayed at all but it was late and we had a long travel day.
We had 4 flights of narrow old carpeted stairs to our room. Concerned about safety should there have been a fire given location of room. No adults seen until next day. Young person who let us in did not ask us for identification and did not instil a sense of safety.
Room was really large but furniture, blinds, outside furniture etc in disrepair. Thermostats covered with paper with notes saying not to remove. The decor did not match a historic old home and there was an unpleasant odour walking in.
There was no sense of hospitality as one would expect in a bed and breakfast. No one greeted you, you wrote what you wanted for breakfast on a piece of paper the night before, you had to collect your own utensils, previous guest dirty dishes remained on the table limiting where we could sit. The host and cook were young children. No adult seen until we were checking out early. No questions asked about why and in fact no one even said goodbye or thank you.

Clean, comfortable room. “River view” was a stretch. Breakfast was pretty bland and took quite a long time despite needing to put your order and timing in the night before. Not the experience I’d expect from a B&B, but still a fairly nice stay.

This was a very cozy and quaint property, very conveniently located.
Pros: The room was clean and very charming. Sean was kind and accommodating, he made a great breakfast. Check in was easy.
Cons: Housekeeping was listed as an amenity, however we did not receive housekeeping. The host was hard to get a hold of when we needed something, but they were quick to fix the issue when we did reach them.
I liked the vibe of the place and we met some fellow travellers when we were there. I would stay again, but I would adjust my expectations.

Only decent thing was the breakfast. This property is nothing like the photos as advertised. It is a character building but very poorly maintained and there is no access to a river on the property even from the run down sheds outback. A sad decline from its original glory obviously.
