Harbour Hotel St Ives

A very old hotel which promotes itself as upmarket with a spa. There are a lot of levels, lots of stairs and a very old lift. We had a Sea view room expecting a luxury stay. Whilst the view was spectacular of St Ives beach, the room promoted as King Size bed, definitely wasn't. Rooms are spacious but bathrooms are tiny. There was no walk-in shower as requested but a bath/shower combo impossible for a short person to get in and out of. The space between the bath and bedroom was barely wide enough to get to the basin which had no bench space for your toiletries. The room was warm and there is no air-conditioning but a small fan was provided. Complimentary gin and tonic in the room and an ineffective mini-fridge with some mini bar items. The hallways were noisy, the wood floor creaked and you could hear doors banging all night. Used the pool in the spa which was very relaxing. Change rooms had lockers and showers. There was also a bathers spin to get the water out! Hair-dryer and curling wand available for use and towels also provided. Breakfast was included in room rate but was only for continental selection. You could order hot items from the menu which was extra. Ate in the restaurant. Food was delicious but overpriced. When paying we were pressured to include the optional service fee although service was not anything but ordinary making this one very expensive meal. The driver (I think he was originally from Liverpool) was super helpful and friendly and gave us lots of tips. The male receptionist (originally from Birmingham) was also very helpful and friendly. The other staff were ok but these two are a credit to the hotel.

A modern and great hotel. We stayed in a family room on the fourth floor, which was spacious and nice. Fantastic view. Friendly staff and an amazing breakfast. Short distance to the beach and swimming pool.

Beautiful setting for a lovely hotel. X

Location location location. It is right in St Ives on the beach. Work out facilities were dated. Loud music playing with no consideration for guests working out. The restaurant is not a destination. Many other better options in the area. A watch out. If traveling with lots of luggage get ready for a strenuous pilgrimage from the train to the hotel up a winding path with stairs.

Used as a wedding venue, so one night was ridiculously loud from a large wedding party. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful property

Bar snacks at lunchtime are very limited and some on the menu were unavailable. Also the bar had run out of sparkling water. The staff were very good including the valet parking. All in all a lovely comfortable hotel with excellent views.

The staff were lovely and the breakfast was perfect. Our room was amazing stunning views, The staff at the spa were also very lovely and made our stay really special. Would definitely stay again.

Great Spa amenities - pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.

Hotel well located, nice design, breakfast and food are nice, The desk people are not interested of anything, doing their job with no joy, no sympathy, it’s not lively, except for one waiter at the restaurant who served us at breakfast and lunch who was very nice and joyful Room nice but no AC…and 4th floor bit tricky to get there (not for everyone) Bathroom could be cleaned better (spotted hairs in the shower at arrival), and shower not clean the day after as well as the toilet

Beautiful superior room with balcony view of the bay. Handy access to the train, shops, and restaurants. Good Continental breakfast and handy valet parking for &10/night.

The overall experience was excellent; from the location on the outskirts of town but walkable to all points of interest, to the room with the view, the lounge and breakfast, and parking! I would definitely stay there again.

Modern rooms and facilities - friendly staff

Mein Einzelzimmer war sehr klein und hellhörig. Eierspeisen müssen beim Frühstück extra bezahlt werden, einen Hinweis darauf enthielt die Frühstückskarte jedoch nicht.

We enjoyed the Hotel and its amenities eg indoor pool, jacuzzi, wet and dry sauna plus the spa. I had a massage and one of the best at a hotel in the UK. The room was comfortable and bathroom a good size. However, the bedroom window with views of the sea was small, so disappointing but will upgrade next time as the views are so worth it! The location of the hotel is ideal for using the train and access to the lovely sandy beach. Walking to the centre of the town is about 10 mins and easy but coming back is all up hill so be prepared as there are no buses. If you love seafood St Ives has plenty. The hotel bar area and dining room deliver the amazing views too with food good! We will be back next year in June instead of May for warmer weather. And finally the staff were friendly and helpful.

Staff have really improved. Dan in bar and restaurant was excellent, very attentive.

It was our dream to visit St.Ives all the way from Japan and we decided to stay at this hotel which reached to our expectation. The quality and atmosphere of the room over looking the beach was impressive. The room and every corner of the hotel was taken care accurately and neatly with the a kind of pride and affection of the owner and staffs. The breakfast was not gorgeous like a modern 5 star hotel, but it was good enough to enjoy the touch of a fresh morning in England. We would love to come back again to reminisce the unforgettable experience we had this time.
