The deluxe double room is big and clean.

Comfortable and clean, staff also helpful, only hot water from shower is not enough in the mid-night.

Booked room that keeps 3 ( large bed and sofa bed ) got allocated disabled room ? Was told that because I ticked 2 guests they downgraded my room despite what I paid for? So next the room Kettle lid broken comes off in hand ! Now cleanliness ( tv top and behind full of dust ) picture frames inch thick dust, every flat surface had inch thick dust ! After 3rd group member came it was either buy another room or sleep on floor so with spare pillows and blankets from car that’s what was done. When we left the room we passed 3 staff members in corridors all busy on their phones !! This is why things are so bad here !

The good Great location on High Street near to multiple eating places, shops and tourist attractions (e.g Colchester Castle). Clean, big room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Big bathroom. Mugs rather than cups - always a positive. The bad The room was too warm to be comfortable and, apart from opening the window, has no way of cooling the room - the in room thermostat indicated 28C one point. Quilt on the bed but no top sheet - not ideal in the heat. The location on High Street can be noisy, which didn't encourage opening the window to try and cool the room. Bathroom extractor fan didn't work. The shower head rose didn't work. The indifferent In retrospect, I was not given the room that I booked - booked a Feature Room but I'm pretty sure that I got an, accessible standard double. The hotel is about 50m from the church in location in another, sister, hotel - we were told about this by the hotel but it's an unusual situation.

It was not air conditioned in the room.

The communication was poor I contacted them twice about check in time and never received a reply. Apart from that the stay was perfect. Staff were great especially the young dark haired girl in breakfast who was an absolute credit.

Convenient for town

DO OT stay here in the summer. no aircon, windows open at the top about 3 inches. Small fan supplied in room, with short flex that will not reach the window opening. Also rooms face onto the highstreet, or perhaps worse a bar with outdoor seating. So window open and all you get it noise. If you love the heat an own earplus this is the hotel room for you ! Positives - good shower, clean room, breakfast was nice.

The room was clean and well maintained, however, with no air-con on one of the hottest days ever in the UK, it was extremely hot in the room. We had to keep the windows open, which brought in the noise from outside, as we looked out into a shopping centre with pubs around. For example, on one morning at 4am, there was street cleaning with a jet washer happening, which of course woke us up because we had to have the windows open. There was a fan, but it didn’t do much. If it wasn’t hot, it would be a great place to stay, but trying to sleep in 32 degree heat inside is impossible.

Very disappointed with room, was so much smaller than the photos on the website. Room was unbelievably hot with no air con which wouldn’t have been a problem if you could have left the windows open. Our room overlooked an extremely busy bar which the noise was unbearable! Worst night sleep I’ve had in a long time which ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend away. Couldn’t wait to leave the room as it seemed even hotter in the morning with no blinds in the bathroom it was like walking into a sauna. Wouldn’t recommend for a peaceful get-a -away. 😞

Not the best in terms of cleanliness however staff was polite.

We have stayed here a few times and this experience wasn’t our favourite. We had booked for breakfast and were forgotten about by the breakfast staff. My partner had to flag down a member of staff and ask if we could order. When the food did arrive, mine was burnt, it certainly wasn’t worth the £19. There was a large group of golfers in the restaurant and they appeared to get priority despite half of them not wanting to order any food. Over all it has left us wondering if we want to stay here again.
