Property put me in a different room to the one I paid for. They refused to reimburse me for the price difference

YOU & YOUR THINGS ARE NOT SAFE AT HERON HOTEL!! A male member of staff let himself into my room with the pass card. I was in bed at the time. There was nowhere to lock your things in the room, so if I wasn’t in, I’m sure he would have helped himself to them. The female manager and male receptionist laughed in my face when I went down shaking from the experience. As a woman travelling alone I felt completely unsafe and at risk. When I complained to Hotels.com they equated my safety to a $5 voucher to use with them. I will NEVER book with them again. Apparently when they spoke to Heron Hotel, they denied it happened - even though I recorded the conversation - and they refused a refund, meaning I had to spend a horrible night at the hotel before I could leave the next day. The picture shows what I had to do to remotely try and protect myself and my belongings that night. It also took 4 room changes to get a room with hot water the night I checked in. Completely unacceptable, disgusting, disgraceful behaviour

nice place and great staff. However, i got mugged around the lake day time. not safe to walk alone

When I checked in they were unaware of my reservation. I was then given a nice room - but once I had unpacked I was moved to a different room that had no lake view and was not as described.

Das Hotel ist laut bis in die tiefe Nacht, sowohl seitens Personal als auch der Gäste. Das Hotel ist von 2017 aber sieht es wie 40 Jahre alt aus. Die Bettwäsche werden nicht ausgetauscht sondern in allen Richtungen umgedreht. Der Boden wird schon sauber gemacht und man bekommt Seifen und Wasser jeden Tag. Leider nur äthiopische Küche zum Frühstück; ansonsten isst man Brot und Eier. Das Personal für das Frühstück ist ausreichend aber leider "eingeschlafen"; Tische nicht bedeckt, Gläser fehlen immer am Buffet und man wird nicht bedient, wenn man nicht ruft. Rezeption: leider nur eine Person spricht Englisch, der Rest sehr sehr wenig. Fernseher im Zimme: 5 äthiopische Sender und 1 für die BBC mit schlechtem Empfang (keine Premium-TV-Sender wie in der Hotel Beschreibung aufgelistet) Ein Souvenirladen habe ich nicht gesehen. Keine Safes in den Zimmern (also nicht wie in der Hotel Beschreibung aufgelistet) Kein Kühlschrank Kein Zeitungen in der Lobby Keine internationale Küche, zum Glück ist ein italienisches Restaurant direkt daneben (wir vom Hotel nicht erwähnt)

Safety and quality

In a very quiet area, clean, equipped with hairdryer drinking bottle water provided every day, but no tea/ coffee facilities in room. The bathroom is ok but a little licks of water. Wonderful service staff members couldn’t do enough for you always with great smile. Will definitely go back again

The property claims its rooms to have lake view. They don't. Actually, the first night, they put me in a basement. 2nd night 2nd floor but still no lake view. I don't think anyone of their rooms have lake view. They shouldn't advertize wrongly like that. It is misleading. That being said, the staff tried to make up to the disappointment. They are very friendly and helpful.

Zimmer nach vorne sind gut, sonst eher mäßig. Essen gut. Alles günstig. Ruhige Lage. war schon mehrfach dort und würde immer wieder hingehen.

Food was good and friendly staff, also they spoke English which was helpful.

All great and i will defintly recommend to family and friends

Great value for the money.

Very respectful and helpful staff. Inviting atmosphere. Restaraunt right next door named Venezia might just be some of the best Italian food i’ve had in Ethiopia. What more can I say?

The staff was very helpful and accommodating, I will love to stay there again.
