I booked a 4-night stay in a Deluxe Suite under single occupancy, as my partner was unable to join me at the time of booking. At the last minute my partner could join 3 of the 4 nights. I attempted to notify the property, but it repeatedly led to an error page. As a result, I informed the front desk in person upon check-in.
At check-in, I clearly explained that an additional guest would be staying for the latter three nights. I was told that there would be an extra charge for breakfast, which I fully understood and immediately agreed to pay. The staff member confirmed this arrangement, an instructed me to return when my partner arrived for passport registration.
We followed these instructions on day 2. However, the staff member on duty at that time took was rather unfriendly and rigid in manner. After explaining that I was willing to pay the extra breakfast charges, he then checked the system and insisted it was not the only additional cost, and he was willing to let this time "slide".
This conversation was very bad taste. I was fully willing to pay any legitimate additional charges; however, these were not mentioned or explained clearly on the first day, despite my proactively informing the front desk and agreeing to the charges that were communicated at that time. Furthermore, the comment that the matter would be allowed to “slide” was inappropriate and unnecessary. I was not attempting to avoid payment and was found accused of it. Overall ruined the trip and holiday
