The location was perfect, there were many things to see, do, and eat within a very close proximity.

I am giving this hotel 3 stars because I was not informed that the hotel was undergoing renovations. The balcony window in my room was completely covered by a tarp blocking the view and making the room feel dark and closed in. Other than that the room was clean and comfortable. Better communication about the renovations would have made the experience much better.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel after the way they handled a genuine medical emergency. I had booked two nights for $535, but while travelling to the hotel, my 15-year-old son suffered an allergic reaction that required us to go to the nearest hospital emergency department. By the time I contacted the hotel, the cancellation deadline had passed, and they chose to keep the full $535. I understand that cancellation policies exist. However, given the circumstances, they could have offered a credit, refunded one night, or made some other reasonable accommodation. What makes this especially frustrating is that I had stayed here several times before and considered it my go-to hotel because of its convenient access to the GO train and Toronto. I have operated my own successful business since 1994, and I believe this was an extremely poor customer-service decision. They kept the $535, but in doing so, they lost a repeat customer and any future referrals I might have made. Sometimes following a policy may protect one transaction, but showing compassion and flexibility protects a long-term customer relationship. In this case, the hotel chose the transaction.

The room, 2 bed suite, was nice, clean with balcony looking over the marina. We had advised of only 2 persons. the suite could accommodate up to 6. Not sure if this was reason but kitchen was poorly equipped and may be utensils had been removed for our stay. Why would utensils be removed? The public areas were clean, but lacking any facilities of any kind. No vending facilities a surprise considering no restaurant facilities. It should be pointed out that many coffee shops etc. within 5 mins. walk. No local tourist information available in the form of leaflets. One request for information was directed to reception desk who advised us to consult internet. Staff, with odd exception, were helpful but 'surly'. did not appear to be very happy in there work. The reception desk was lacking in customer service skills, not happy and did not portray a pleasing attitude to customers. Despite the apparent negative comments, we would use the hotel again if in the area.
