This was our favourite place to stay during our trip to Europe. This property is amazing and the views are incredible. The staff understand old-fashioned hospitality without being stuffy. They are friendly, helpful, and have wonderful senses of humour. And they were incredibly tolerant of my clumsy Spanish.
This is an old school luxury hotel — I don’t imagine a lot has changed since it first opened. It is a bit of a time capsule in the best possible way. Some reviews speak to it needing to be refreshed or renovated. No, absolutely not. Everything is well-maintained and functional and clean. Its older aesthetic is what gives it its charm. Who wants sterile, bland, generic, Insta-influencer “style” when you can have this charming and authentic piece of history that is exploding with character?
We fully relaxed here. After opening the big, beautiful, wooden door to our room, we were greeted with a personal note from management and beautiful orange cake. Our room was impeccably clean, exquisitely quiet, and comfortable. It had a private balcony with sun chairs and a retractable sun shade.
The restaurant had incredible food and we had an amazing view from our table. Breakfast was delicious. Dinners were divine.
The hotel is a good walk to Malaga’s Old Town. Wear sensible shoes and SPF and do some cardio or take a bus, car, bike, taxi, or tuk tuk. There’s a fabulous little pool at the hotel and it’s super refreshing after a day of walking.
We loved it & would stay again.
