Visit the beautiful Nara Park, an urban park located at the foot of Wakakusa Mountain in Nara City, home to Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga-taisha Shrine, and other famous sites. Enjoy traditional events like the Wakakusa Mountain Burning, which takes place every January. Explore the park leisurely, where you can see the largest concentration of deer and have the chance to feed them, a popular activity.
Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
Marvel at Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, known for its Thousand Torii Gates. This stunning site attracts countless visitors from Japan and around the world, ranking first among Japanese attractions for three years in a row on a major travel website. The shrine's ema, or wooden plaques, are also unique, shaped like a white fox.
Kyoto Fushimi Giikawa Honpo
Visit Giikawa Mogu Mogu Honpo, located at Fushimi Inari Shrine next to Urasando Torii. Enjoy this popular Kyoto spot, which offers a variety of limited-edition Fushimi Inari merchandise and exclusive senbei gift boxes.
Arashiyama
Explore the Arashiyama area, which includes Arashiyama and Sagano. Discover cultural sites, beautiful nature, and old trains. Visit shrines like Tenryuji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk the bamboo forest trail from Nonomiya Shrine to Okouchi Villa. Enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and colorful leaves in autumn when many tourists visit. While tickets for the Sagano Train can be hard to find, winter and summer are quiet, perfect for those seeking peace. Experience local restaurants, Japanese sweet shops, and cute stores. Rent kimonos and ride rickshaws for a leisurely visit.
