Singapore Changi Airport is 20 kms from the city centre. And while the Jewel Changi complex inside Changi Airport is a tourist attraction in its own right, if you do want to explore nearby attractions, Changi Beach Park is only a 10-minute drive away.
Looking for airport transfers and shuttles in Singapore? While getting to and from the airport via public transport is relatively easy, some travellers may decide an airport transfer or shuttle service is more suited to their travel style. Below are some of the best airport transfers available to book:
One of the most affordable and easiest ways to get to and from Singapore Airport is by MRT/train. The trip will take approximately 40-50 minutes to reach the city centre and will cost around AU$2.20-3.30. Perfect for travellers with light luggage, as there are no designated spots to store your suitcases on board the MRT.
You can also take a public bus to the airport in Singapore. With bus route 36 being the most direct public bus that links Changi Airport with key stops in the city. A bus ride to the airport will depend on traffic but should take around an hour, costing approximately AU$2-2.50. Contactless payment for buses is preferred.
For a direct door-to-door service, hopping into a taxi is an excellent choice for travellers with bulky luggage. A taxi trip from the city should take around 20 minutes and cost between AU$27 and AU$50, depending on any peak-time surges. All taxi rides are metered and operate under strict government regulation, ensuring transparent prices. No surprises here!
In Singapore, Grab and Gojek are the most popular rideshare apps. Ryde is also available and is a Singapore-grown ridesharing app. It’s important to note that Uber does not operate in Singapore.
A Grab ride to the airport should take around 20 minutes to travel from the city to the airport. Surge prices may apply, but a ride via Gojek should cost around AU$22 to AU$44.
When we said Singapore’s Airport is big, we meant it. Which means you’ll also need to carve out some time to travel between terminals when you arrive.
The Skytrain connects terminals 1, 2 and 3 and operates every 4-6 minutes. You can access these trains when you’re at the airport, they’re free to use, and travel time between each terminal is around 4 minutes.
You also have the option to walk between terminals. From T1 to T3 you can walk 10-15 minutes through Jewel Changi. T1 and T2 are connected with footbridges and escalators. T3 to T2 is also walkable via indoor routes. Just follow the signs and give yourself ample time, because there’s lots to see.
Terminal 4 is only accessible via a shuttle bus. The shuttle bus runs between Terminals 1-3 and Terminal 4 every 10 to 15 minutes. The ride should take you around 10 minutes to get to Terminal 4.
The most affordable way to travel to and from Singapore Airport is by MRT or public bus. Both offer very similar prices for a one-way trip.
The fastest way to get to Singapore Airport is by car — whether that’s with a taxi, using a ridesharing app, or organising a private transfer. It’s important to note that if you’re travelling during peak hours, the drive can take significantly longer than off-peak hours. Which means, in that case, taking the MRT is your best bet to avoid the stress.
