Location is very strategic, walking distance to Darling Harbour & Town Hall. The room is very well equipped with a kitchen, stoves, microwave, coffee maker, and all utensils. The bed is very comfy, we have a king-size bed enough to fit 2 adults & 2 kids. The best thing is that it has a washing machine & dryer. The staff is really nice & informative. The pool is big enough. We tried the gym, which is open 24 hours. Really recommend and definitely will come back here.

The location is very convenient, close to Dara Harbor. If you want to go to Opera House, just walk, along the road that is passed and behind the hotel are cafes... crowded, comfortable & aesthetic. Finding food is easy. Public transportation everywhere there is a light rail, bus. Best Location

Stayed at Hyatt Regency Sydney and really enjoyed the experience. The room was spacious, well-maintained, and the housekeeping team did an excellent job throughout. The location by Darling Harbour made it easy to walk everywhere, and the breakfast selection was solid. Service was warm and efficient, making the whole stay feel effortless.

More about hotels in Sydney CBD

About Sydney CBD accommodation

Sydney CBD is the city’s beating heart. It’s where suits, sneakers, and sunhats all move to the same rhythm. Skyscrapers lean over heritage pubs, ferries slice through the harbour, and there’s always a café, cocktail bar or cultural landmark just around the corner.

Whether you’re here for a weekender, a wedding, or a work trip with a view, Sydney’s central postcode makes it easy to see it all (and sleep well after). From luxury hotels with front-row seats to the Opera House to backpacker joints a stone’s throw from Chinatown, the CBD wraps it all into one walkable grid.

Where to stay in Sydney CBD

  • The Rocks: History’s right under your feet here - literally. Old laneways, convict-built pubs, sandstone corners that glow at golden hour. Great for romantics and wanderers.
  • Darling Harbour: Bright lights, big breakfasts, water everywhere. This is where families and fun-seekers unpack - think museums, boats, and hotel rooms with views for days.
  • Circular Quay: This is the postcard stuff. Opera House on one side, Harbour Bridge on the other. Ferries glide past your window and luxe hotels tuck into the skyline.
  • Wynyard & Martin Place: Corporate by day, cocktail-ready by night. Close to trains, laneway bars and big-city buzz. Good for business trips, weekenders and anyone who packs heels with their hiking shoes.

How much is Sydney CBD accommodation?

Sydney CBD isn’t shy about its price tags, but whether you’re splashing out on harbour views or just need a good bed near the action, there’s a stay for that. Most travellers spend around AU$220 a night but look in the right pocket, and you might just score more for less.

  • Backpackers and budget hotels: From AU$40 per night. Expect dorm beds or no-frills rooms near Haymarket or Central. Good if you’re counting coins, but want Chinatown eats and trains on tap.
  • Apartments and studios: From AU$150 per night. Think kitchenette, washing machine and room to breathe. Handy for longer stays, families or anyone who doesn’t want to eat out every night.
  • Mid-range hotels: From AU$180 per night. Your classic comfort zone. Rooftop bars, crisp sheets and front desks that hand out umbrellas when Sydney turns moody.
  • Luxury hotels and suites: From AU$350 per night. Harbour glitter, marble bathrooms, maybe a pillow menu. You’re paying for the postcode, and that skyline out the window.

Top-rated hotels in Sydney CBD

  • Shangri-La Sydney: A high-rise sanctuary above The Rocks where the skyline spills into your suite. Many rooms come with enormous views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. End the day with a cocktail at Blu Bar, 36 floors up.
  • The Grace Hotel: Once a 1930s department store, now a warm, polished stay with Art Deco bones. Expect generous rooms, plush robes, and a rooftop recreation area that feels like a quiet secret in the middle of the CBD. Just minutes to Pitt Street shopping and Darling Harbour.
  • Park Hyatt Sydney: Sydney’s ultimate splurge. This harbourside icon offers uninterrupted Opera House views from your bed. Bespoke service that starts from the moment you walk in. Suites open to private balconies and the breakfast is just as five-star as the setting.
  • Sydney Harbour YHA – Hostel: Proof you don’t need a five-star budget to wake up to world-class views. This hostel’s rooftop looks straight over Circular Quay and the bridge. Clean dorms, private rooms, and a social vibe make it perfect for solo travellers.
  • The Sebel Quay West Suites Sydney: City apartment comfort meets hotel convenience. Complete with hotels and apartment-style accommodation with kitchen, laundry and living space, plus picture-perfect views from the indoor pool deck.

H3: Tips for finding the perfect accommodation in Sydney CBD

  • Know your neighbours: Each pocket of the CBD has its own vibe—from corporate cool in Wynyard to ferry-front charm in Circular Quay. Choose your area before your hotel.
  • Use filters like a local: Whether you want a gym, a late checkout, or just somewhere close to the light rail, Traveloka’s filters help you cut the fluff and find your fit fast.
  • Time your stay: Sydney hums year-round, but prices often drop in winter (June–August). Avoid major event weekends if you're budget-watching.
  • Flex on dates: A one-day shift can mean the difference between full price and a flash deal. Midweek stays often unlock the best rates and availability.
