Balmoral Lodge Hotel, is a nice and very affordable place to stay. Staff are really nice and welcoming and helpful. The Hotel could do with a little bit of updating in redecorating. However that is a minor flaw. I would definitely go back to stay again in the future.

So relaxing, quiet, we had a room with a patio leading to the garden, which was very nice, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent value for money, ideally located close to promenade and town centre and Lord Street either by car or foot. Slightly out dated decor, which isn’t a problem when your looking for budget accommodation and somewhere to rest your head 10/10 will definitely be back, we booked for a week in September before we checked out

I read the reviews and don't understand how anyone came to that conclusion. We had Room 11. I dont know who the cleaners are but they need sacking. It was disgusting. Dirt and mould everywhere. I have never wanted to leave a property as much as this one

A little outdated and in need of decorating but apart from the simple things like tiles in the bathroom needing a scrub and a little thing like the table and chairs on our patio needing a wipe down (yes patio doors into a garden) it was lovely. They couldn't do enough for us and the beds were clean and comfortable. £5 for a good breakfast with no charge for the kids I was more than happy!!

On the plus side, the staff are all very friendly and went out of their way to help. I was upgraded to a double room, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel peaceful. There was a bath and a shower provided en-suite. On the downside, the decor is very dated. However, it is perfectly acceptable for a short stay. The bath tap seemed to run out of hot water after a few minutes, resulting in a shallow bath water level. Overall, I like this hotel. It is the second time I have stayed and I would stay again.

Hotel was very shabby and in need of major refurbishment. Dusty bedroom and dirty bathroom. Putting that aside it was very cheap and so didn’t expect it to be five star rating. It served its purpose and on the plus side the lady’s (French) on reception were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was cheap at £5. With a bit of updating this could be very nice

Parking was the only positive thing about this place. Room was unclean, pet hair on the window ledge and the the actual glass, I can only assume a dog had been sat there with its head out of the window…maybe it was trying to escape…it could be my imagination but I’m pretty sure there were fleas present too. I’ve stayed in a lot of ‘budget’ hotels before, but ‘budget’ should never mean unclean. I can handle the odd broken curtain rail, and even the paper thin bedding, broken mattress springs and pillows that look like they were from the 70’s, but I can’t handle filthy floors that clearly hadn’t been cleaned or even swept, everything smelling of mould or musty wet dog, dirty bathroom, dirty furniture and general all round poor housekeeping. I can’t blame the staff on duty, but somebody needs to take notice of this and do something about it because it’s just awful. The shame is that it could so easily be pleasant enough to be cheap and cheerful with a bit of TLC and a good cleaning regime. We left within 15 minutes of checking in and stayed in a Premier Inn for twice the price, but thankfully I got a full refund.

Is basic, but absolutely fine for us. Lovely owner and was allowed to check in early. Free car park and good value breakfast. The only negative was the shower had a weak flow, needed more power. Would definitely stay again.

Definitely recommend Balmoral Lodge, the Manager was so helpful and friendly. Very accomodating. I stayed on the ground floor with a balcony on the room leading out to the garden. I stayed 3 nights, very spacious room with 2 big bath towels provided.

I stay in hotels a lot and all I ask is a comfy bed, cleanliness and hot water. Balmoral Lodge failed in two of the three! In the family room, the day bed type single bed was surprisingly comfy, but I had to upend and shake the mattress as the bottom sheet was covered in a very fine black powder, like pepper dust. There were cobwebs all over the coving, dirty corners and two of the drawers were broken. The bathroom had the worst attempt at silicon sealant that I have ever seen. Most unforgivable however, was the fact that in our two night stay, the water never got hotter than lukewarm. A bath was impossible and a shower was a gritted teeth experience. The public areas were also very tired, with artexed WALLS and wrinkled lino. Having said that, even a place in need of refreshing can and should be clean and in good repair! It was all such a shame as the bones of the building are beautiful and it could be magnificent! However, it felt like the owners had given up on it entirely
