Definitely recommend Balmoral Lodge, the Manager was so helpful and friendly. Very accomodating. I stayed on the ground floor with a balcony on the room leading out to the garden. I stayed 3 nights, very spacious room with 2 big bath towels provided.

Everything from accommodating for very late arrivals to making sure everything was available for you whenever you wanted it and every response was made in a very friendly and warming way.. I’m definitely coming back here whenever I’m in the area

We parked easily, the property was quiet & secure. The hosts were great .. so friendly, conveniently located for our needs … the breakfast was incredible value too. Yes, the property is dated, however it is all about expectations, and for the amount paid it’s a treat … if you expect the Ritz you’ll be disappointed & if you want a standard Travelodge experience again the Balmoral Hotel is not for you. It’s the 2nd time I’ve stayed & I have no reason not to return again next year.

Hotel was very shabby and in need of major refurbishment. Dusty bedroom and dirty bathroom. Putting that aside it was very cheap and so didn’t expect it to be five star rating. It served its purpose and on the plus side the lady’s (French) on reception were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was cheap at £5. With a bit of updating this could be very nice

Parking was the only positive thing about this place. Room was unclean, pet hair on the window ledge and the the actual glass, I can only assume a dog had been sat there with its head out of the window…maybe it was trying to escape…it could be my imagination but I’m pretty sure there were fleas present too. I’ve stayed in a lot of ‘budget’ hotels before, but ‘budget’ should never mean unclean. I can handle the odd broken curtain rail, and even the paper thin bedding, broken mattress springs and pillows that look like they were from the 70’s, but I can’t handle filthy floors that clearly hadn’t been cleaned or even swept, everything smelling of mould or musty wet dog, dirty bathroom, dirty furniture and general all round poor housekeeping. I can’t blame the staff on duty, but somebody needs to take notice of this and do something about it because it’s just awful. The shame is that it could so easily be pleasant enough to be cheap and cheerful with a bit of TLC and a good cleaning regime. We left within 15 minutes of checking in and stayed in a Premier Inn for twice the price, but thankfully I got a full refund.

Is basic, but absolutely fine for us. Lovely owner and was allowed to check in early. Free car park and good value breakfast. The only negative was the shower had a weak flow, needed more power. Would definitely stay again.

I stay in hotels a lot and all I ask is a comfy bed, cleanliness and hot water. Balmoral Lodge failed in two of the three! In the family room, the day bed type single bed was surprisingly comfy, but I had to upend and shake the mattress as the bottom sheet was covered in a very fine black powder, like pepper dust. There were cobwebs all over the coving, dirty corners and two of the drawers were broken. The bathroom had the worst attempt at silicon sealant that I have ever seen. Most unforgivable however, was the fact that in our two night stay, the water never got hotter than lukewarm. A bath was impossible and a shower was a gritted teeth experience. The public areas were also very tired, with artexed WALLS and wrinkled lino. Having said that, even a place in need of refreshing can and should be clean and in good repair! It was all such a shame as the bones of the building are beautiful and it could be magnificent! However, it felt like the owners had given up on it entirely

Stayed for one night in a family room, everything was good despite not having enough toilet roll and hair dryer not working couldn’t fault it. Great spacious room, tea and coffee facilities had snacks and drinks in fridge for extra cost but still cheap. Great stay will return in the future.

The lady at reception was lovely. And the building inside and out is very dated. But I did expect the rooms to be clean. The room was dirty. Cobwebs everywhere. I personally would not shower in the bathroom as there was no hot water, again dirty. Was supposed to stay two nights ,but we left the next morning. Will not go back.

Not as good as before. Stayed a few times but this time the bed was like a childs bed and lots of mold around the shower. Cleaning was twice in a week, had to make own bed on other days even though I have a disability. Reception not manned after late afternoons, general impression that if you want anything after late afternoon you are a nuisance. I didn't try breakfast this time.

Friendly staff, hotel is showing its age and on need of a little maintence but didn't effect overall experience as I knew what to expect based on the price I paid. Got a little upgrade to the garden facing room which was nice. Breakfast was cooked fresh, little full English with toast available for a supplement of £5. Approx 8 parking spaces, first come first served basis. Nice area with a little bit of a walk 10 -15 mins to the centre. I was only there one night as I was attending a function. I got what I paid for and can't complain.
