Staff very friendly! Spend the extra money for the onsen in the room and for the buffet dinner! They are both worth every penny! We can’t wait to go back. The only downside was the bed/futon and bean pillows. The bed and pillow was uncomfortable and my husband didn’t like the futon and he sleeps on the floor every night. The “Las Vegas” was ok but many machines were down. Loved the pipe organ!!

The hotel itself is very clean, updated, comfortable. The room we had was on the traditional side and was spacious with a separate bedroom with balcony with river view. Buffet dinner was delicious. Hot tubs is clean and amenities including shower head were great. Recommend to stay just one night. Because the “Kinugawa” itself is a small town and surrounded by abandoned buildings, not much to do. The check in staff didn’t let me know you needed reservation for the return taxi. I planned to grab a taxi to the train station at the check out but then, the staff told me without taxi reservation or shuttle reservation, waiting time for a taxi is around one hour. We ended up walked to the train station but missed the train and spent 5 hours waiting for the next train. I think the hotel staff should have let me know the reservation when I checked in as they knew we took a taxi to get to the hotel at check in. Lack of taxi service is understandable due to the size of town, so make sure to ask about the taxi or shuttle for your return!!! The check in staff was impersonal. The hotel seems to cater to a large group of people so if you are looking for more of traditional type of Japanese hotel service, look other hotels. But over all great hotel experience.

This was our third stay at Asaka Hotel Kinugawa Onsen, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. We booked a two-night stay purely for relaxation, and it was exactly what we needed. The buffet breakfast and dinner continue to impress us with their sumptuous spread—a wonderful balance of local flavors and variety. Every meal feels like a culinary treat that elevates the whole experience. One of the highlights for my wife is the in-room onsen, filled with natural hot springs water. She truly enjoys the privacy and comfort of soaking right in our room. As for me, I took full advantage of the public baths, which are always immaculately clean and well-maintained. It’s clear the staff takes pride in ensuring a serene and hygienic environment for all guests. Asaka Hotel has become a special place for us, and we look forward to returning again.

We stayed at Asaya for 3 nights and it was one of the more memorable experiences during our 2 week Japan sojourn. All the staff from the front desk crew to other supporting staff were very friendly and it was obvious that they strived to make our stay enjoyable. The buffet dinner and breakfast were excellent with a great variety of Japanese and Western items. All were freshly prepared with local ingredients. The decor of the property has a very distinct 1980's vibe but the management manages to keep the hotel in good shape and the facility is very well maintained. All in all, highly recommended if you are in Nikko area.

Great place to stay room was spacious private onsen is a must if you are going. The only complaint is that the hotel can get over crowded and the food was not that great although there is plenty of options.
