Hotel Riu Emerald Bay - All Inclusive

An awesome experience as usual, Riu has never disappointed me that's the reason we keep coming back. The only thing is that this time we stayed at the family suite room 3146 and the WiFi and cellphone signal weren't working at all. Once we got to main level 💯 %

Hotel location, beach, water, pool are all good. The reason for giving three star is: 1) Three Mexican bands occupy the beach from noon to 8pm every day. They continuously play resulting in nothing but noise for foreign visitors. There is no opp for peace, at pool or beach. 2) even though property has five restaurants, the food is same across all. Bambo only had chicken satay and sushi, rest was same 3) we stayed 5 days, only twice hotel staff answered room phone. On most occasion it would ring with no one answering or someone would pick and hang right away. Meaning, forget room service 4) only one English speaking non news channel. Rest are all Spanish speaking. You can’t hide in your room from beach band 5) unsafe water sprinkler buried in sand. We hit one, resulted in sprained toe. Reported to reception along with video. No action taken or desire to fix it.

Food not so great.

The hotel was great. All the staff is very helpful & the majority of the food at the buffets were delicious. The waiters are also very nice. The beach & pools were awesome. There were a few cons but the pros outweigh them. The phone signal was not so great & the WiFi was not the strongest & it was difficult to connect. Plus one of the TV remotes didn’t work because it was not for the correct one. Thankfully the only LG remote worked for both tv’s. And also the only channel to watch the World Cup games weren’t passing all the games. You needed Vix account but then again the WiFi signal was weak & the cell phone signal was slow. But overall we had a great time. I would definitely go back in the future.

Plenty of food and pools to enjoy. Was a little too crowded for my liking. The room did not have the mini bar option as was stated (we just needed some midnight water). Check in was fast but we weren’t directed on where to go just given a room number.

It was clean and the staff was good as well But when we were there 8 Years there had very good AC every where Now in the lobby was no AC it was very warm and our room AC was not working properly as well

I didn’t like that the pool closes so early. I didn’t like that the music is so loud when you are trying to relax. Everything else was great. Good food and always available to grab a bite. Staff was very friendly everywhere. Clean property.

Room was older, but ok, room a/c was weak, 90% of the hotel did not have A/C, they have fans throughout the hotel, it was horribly humid. I asked the hotel desk if I could leave a deposit for a fan to use in my room, they said they don't offer fans, but I could purchase one at Walmart. LOL. Elevators are crazy SLOW! Prepare to wait. Cleaning room ladies were Great!! The toilet seat was loose, the room coffee machine did not work, I asked the hotel to fix. It was never repaired. The tequila bottle in the room was empty when we checked in, they brought a new bottle the next day. (inconvenient) The adult pool lets kids access the pool area with their parents, so you hear crying. Not truly an adult pool area, and the second pool bar tenders by the outdoor restaurant are extremely sarcastic, especially one older man that walks with a limp. Pool water was foggy. Mexican show was Amazing, I don't know how the dancers can deal with the humidity because the show is outdoors. They need large swamp coolers or fans for guests. And closing the checkout is not in the same area as check in, no signs telling you this. We found the check out. When checking out the supervisor Eric was extremely rude and unprofessional. We were missing one of the pool towel cards. I explained to him that it was probably left in the room. He wanted to charge 300 pesos, I argued with him I'm not trying to steal towels, Eric said just leave, & he needed to cut our bracelets & rudely told us to leave the hotel...

If I’d never been anywhere else, perhaps I wouldn’t know how good an all-inclusive in Mexico could be. But I have experienced much, much, much, much better, and this one hailed in comparison to all of them. First of all, aside from the Mexican restaurant, the food was horrible. I’ve never struggled to find food I like in huge buffets like theirs until coming here. Even the chocolate chip cookies were bad, something I didn’t think was possible. There also isn’t room service. A few bars had Smirnoff and Bacardi, but otherwise, all of the alcohol is off-brand or come from cartons. Another issue with the bar is hygiene. Because this facility allows people to bring refillable drink containers, and the bartenders use the same stirring utensils for all of us, we are all swapping spit. The biggest issue for me was the elevators which often stopped on every floor. That wouldn’t be a problem if there was air conditioner in them, I wasn’t on the 24th floor, and the compartments were tiny, jammed with other visitors. The property is pretty, but it is in need of updates and smelled like urine or cleaning products in several places. For example, in the public bathrooms, I was grateful that they were clean, but the toilet brushes are kept out in uncovered canisters, containing very strong-smelling chemicals. And while enjoying cocktails in the pool, the cement stunk like pee. Not to mention the pool itself, which was constantly cloudy and filthy.

The hotel was clean and the staff was great!

El hotel está muy bonito y muy grande tienen mucho entretenimiento ,pero lo único que no nos gustó fue en el bar Pool porque ay mucha gente y se apilan y uno no puede ordenar las bebidas porque además los bar tenders se agarran jugando con las mujeres que ya están borrachas y uno tiene que esperar un buen rato hasta que se le asercan a preguntar que va a querer uno yo pienso que ahí necesitan unos 3 o 4 bars tenders y eso era en el bar Pepe’s y que sean formales los que trabajen ahí que no jueguen .

The outside areas and pools are very nice and well maintained, which was definitely a positive part of the stay. However, the rooms are very old and in need of updating. The beds were also quite uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. While the property has great outdoor amenities, the guest rooms did not meet my expectations and could benefit from significant improvements
