Hotel Riu Emerald Bay - All Inclusive

I stayed at the Hotel Riu Emerald Bay with my fiancé for 8 days. Up until the 5th day, we were having an amazing vacation — but unfortunately our experience took a horrible turn. While we were out, someone entered our room and stole $1,500 USD cash from my wallet, which was inside my purse and packed in my luggage. We didn’t realize it until the next day because we had stayed in the room that evening and didn’t go anywhere. We immediately filed a report at the front lobby and were told to wait 48 hours for an outcome. The following day we followed up with Anna from Public Relations, who told us she could not give us any information because it was “confidential.” She did say we could wait in the lobby on checkout day since our flight was later that evening. On checkout day, we spoke with management and eventually with the hotel director, Daniel, hoping to get answers or some type of resolution. Instead, we were told there was “no proof” the money existed and basically nothing could be done. What makes this even more frustrating is that these rooms require a key card to enter, and the doors lock automatically when you leave. Unless someone climbed through the balcony, access should only be possible with authorized entry. And honestly, even if guests choose not to use the safe provided in the room, that still does not justify people being able to enter your room and steal your money or valuable belongings. Guests should feel safe leaving their personal items in their room

Third time I stay at RIU and always amazing. Staff is friendly, every area in the hotel is clean and the food is delicius. For me and my family is the best hotel in Mazatlan!!

Resort had all you can need to have a great vacation. The only downfall is that is far from the malecon but other than that great place to vacation. Will recommend to others.

Our trip was exceptional. The rooms and floors were spotless and cleaned everyday. The staff were very attentive, friendly, and kind. The pools were all very clean and always had fun activities to participate in. The beach was very enjoyable and there was always a lifeguard keeping everyone safe.

Pools were awful and on each of them there seemed to be something unpleasant floating in them. The “band” playing live music was unbearably loud to the point where our party couldn’t have a conversation. It went on for hours and hours daily. We could even hear it in our room with the door balcony door shut. The rooms very outdated, bed linen not always clean, bathroom could do with a new shower curtain. The plug sockets were so old that plugs would continuously fall out. Would never return. The staff were friendly and polite

Staff overall pretty friendly, same food at the buffet every day but decent. The Italian restaurant was good, the Japanese restaurant was just another buffet. The most disappointing was everyday from 2-7pm there were 3 mariachi bands playing at the same time - different songs… plus the hotels music. Every afternoon was very loud and chaotic. There will be no enjoying your sunsets from your balcony… There is also a market set up on the beach every day and you’re constantly approached on your way to the ocean. Hotel does have private beach area where the vendors are not allowed. Also the pillows were next level terrible.

Internet was good. I felt the adult only pool was murky didn't want to be in it. The staff were always curious and helpful

Would of been nice to have a proper coffee shop also the sports bar should be for adults only Also need more entertainment outside in evening

Hotel was great! Food was awesome. Staff was friendly and super accommodating. Hotel is big so there is some walking required. They have a pool that has a ramp which is great for people with disabilities. Restaurants do require reservations which are encouraged to do on the hotel app but it's a little difficult especially if you are traveling with many people with different room numbers, but food is well worth it. Beach is great. I love banda so for our party it was great to have the music playing. Over all would definitely recommend.

I was really disappointed with my stay at this hotel. Cleanliness was clearly an issue—I found two cockroaches in my room, which is completely unacceptable and made it hard to feel comfortable at all. On top of that, the bathroom setup was inconvenient and potentially unsafe. The bathtub had an unusually large step up to get into the shower, which made it awkward and difficult to use. It didn’t feel well-designed or guest-friendly. Overall, between the cleanliness concerns and the poor bathroom layout, this stay did not meet even basic expectations. I would not choose to stay here again.

Great place for families. You never need to leave the resort for anything unless you're into more cultural events and activities.

Everything was great

My room was amazing! The staff was incredible! Beach was walked daily. The pools could use some repairs but so many to choose from. My chambermaid left my towel critters every day.

La alberca estaba muy bien , mi cuarto no tenía vista al mar pero eso no me molestaba . Nos pasó que llegamos al cuarto y no había ni una botella de agua. Del licor , el de mejor calidad estaba vacío y pedíamos cosas y tardaban más de una hora para hacer el refill.

Mire una cucaracha en el área de la comida fui lo único que no me gusto y lo demás esta muy aceptable

Everything was amazing the food was great staff always smiling had a great first time experience!

The beach is spectacular, the rooms were clean, the staff was great… however we asked for two beds (expecting two queen or double beds) and when we got there, the two double beds were literally attached. When we spoke to the front desk, they told us that we DID get the correct type of room (there were 3 adults staying in the room so it was a bit uncomfortable and inconvenient) Be expected to wait for the elevators.. but the view of the ocean from the balcony is second to none! Lots of places to eat within the resort. All in all, we were pleased!
