The room had small fly’s, there was rubbish under the bed from the previous people which the cleaner didn’t bother to check which brought all the flys in the room. On the second day she didn’t bother to clean the shower and left the towels on the floor, also we booked in 3 adult and a child age 8. when we went in the room there was a cot bed made up, which I had to take down.

Regrettably, the experience was far below what is expected from a 4-star establishment, On the first night, the television in our room was not working. While this was an inconvenience, we accepted the offer to be upgraded to a suite on the second night.
However, things deteriorated further when we discovered live bed bugs in the upgraded suite. This is absolutely unacceptable and a serious health concern. We have clear video evidence of the bed bugs, captured on three separate occasions during our stay. The presence of bed bugs in any hotel room—let alone in a suite of a 4-star hotel—is appalling and unhygienic, and it made the remainder of our visit deeply uncomfortable. While we appreciate the effort of the staff member who assisted us during this ordeal—who was professional and helpful—the overall experience was completely unacceptable.
We were offered free drinks on the house, but let us be clear: this is not an appropriate form of compensation for sleeping in unsanitary, unsafe conditions. The issues we encountered go far beyond what a few complimentary beverages can remedy. This is not a minor inconvenience; it is a public health concern.

I recently encountered a frustrating situation with Monument Hotel. I had a reservation confirmed for August 2, but just a few hours before my arrival, I received a cancellation notice without any clear explanation. This last-minute change left me scrambling for alternative accommodations, which is not what I expected when booking with a reputable hotel. The lack of communication and consideration for my plans was disappointing. I would have appreciated a timely notification and perhaps assistance in finding another room nearby. Unfortunately, this experience has tarnished my impression of the hotel, and I cannot recommend it based on this incident.
Hopefully, they can improve their communication and customer service in the future.

The room was “ok”. Loved the shower room and that it is separate from the toilet. But the room overall lacked a vibe. The staff were nice but kind of dismissive. They are working the restaurant in addition the front desk so the check in was kind of rushed. The walk to the train wasn’t too bad. I did prefer staying outside of the center of Amsterdam as it was a bit chill. I didn’t know our room would be right over the restaurant so the noise level was pretty loud until late evenings.

Lovely team and responsive. Beautiful space. Quaint interiors and nice surroundings. The aircon didn’t work strongly and windows didn’t open, which made it very hot. Very noisy at night but great location.

If you've looking for a hotel that is centrally located, with a busy square around it, then this hotel works. But we didn’t like the fact we were kept awake by noise from the hotel's own bar and the square until at least 3am, even though we were in a room at the back of the hotel. Also, we stayed 3 nights and never had our room cleaned or towels changed during our stay. Nonetheless, the staff were friendly, it felt safe and it was only a 10 minute walk to the station.

The hotel is situated next to the bars. I could not sleep the two nights I was there. When I sent an email to complain they recompensed my claims with: “we apologize”. To what I answer: thank you for apologising but that doesn’t help me with the two nights that I didn’t sleep after paying an exaggerated amount of money to what I thought was a decent hotel. Very unhappy with the experience.

Really enjoyed our stay here.
Staff very friendly, Room was great with very comfortable bed. Our stay was around kings day which we wasnt aware of when we booked but was informed via email after we booked informing us, we wasnt sure what to expect as we didnt know anything about kings day as we are british. It was very noisey on our first night as was partying going on right out side our window but the earplugs that was provided sort of did help and we still manged to get some sleep that night. But We made the most of kings day and got into the spirt of things so we didnt mind at all. Was great to expericence it and will deffinatly come to Amsterdam again and would stay in this hotel and location again also. All in all was a great stay!
