What Guests Say About Their Stay

I really enjoyed my 3D2N stay here. I was looking for a quiet getaway so I was avoiding town areas hotel, and this hotel is perfect as it is surrounded with greenery, and away from crowds. Yet, it is just a short 10 minutes walk to Plaza Sing mall. The Deluxe room is huge, the bathtub was really comfy as well. I really like that the room comes with a bluetooth speaker, I could play music and soak in the tub. The TV was meh, not much channels to watch and not a smart TV. There are two pools, both were clean but the benches are worn out. The hotel can be a little old, but overall it is beautiful especially at night and it is well maintained. Customer service can be improved as they are not the most responsive, I had to call several times before someone pick up in the morning/afternoon. The breakfast was yummy, with a decent variety. Recommended for anyone looking for a quiet getaway, away-from-city kind of vibe.

Check-in was pleasant. The hotel room was good. All the curtain was electronic controlled. The bathtub is very big and clean. The only downside was the TV. It can’t be casted and there is no YouTube in it. But overall, it’s still an amazing stay!

Beautiful room with a great view of nature. Love the high ceiling and the deep and big bathtub. Swimming pool nothing to rave about. The bed was comfortable but the air conditioner was a bit difficult to adjust. Would definitely book again for a staycation. Was also surprised by the staff with a cake for my birthday.

Hotel is very accessible, staffs were very friendly and patient. Room was awesome with the view. Spotted dusts behind the door and shelf above the bed, sink was a little clogged. Other than that everything else was great, enjoyed my stay there.

Chill place for staycation. Generally pleasant but cleanliness of rooms can be improved. There seem to be mould on the bathroom floor. Calls to housekeeping and front desk not picked up most of the time.

The hotel is perfect for a honeymoon or an anniversary celebration. The downside is that the hotel does not provide any halal food so we have to order or get our own food. It would be great if the hotel can provide a selection of halal finger foods and desserts to celebrate the joyous occasion or put it under a special request or package so Muslim couples who are celebrating their anniversaries or honeymoon can have a wonderful and memorable stay.

Room was disaster, hygiene was so bad. Call conciege, in room service, housekeeping but no one ever answer the phone call. Midnight there will be some weirdos pressing your doorbell multiple times asking to buy cigarettes, tried calling to complain but nobody ever answer. Cannot believe this was a 5 star, more like a 3 star overall.

The hotel is set in very relaxing surroundings and heritage buildings. Facilities are a bit hard to find as it was formerly a social clubhouse converted to a hotel. But overall-apart from odd trimmings like the wash basin area being too small, slippery marble tiles, lack of hooks and sockets in the room, and curtains to cover the toilet area from the bedroom but there is still space to peep through is odd. But other than these, the room and hotel generally are cosy. However, service standards fall short. On many occasions, when making requests etc, the first response either via email or in person (even by managers) is no. Later they might backtrack and accede to your request but the first impression has already been made and leaves a sour taste. The curt attitude of staff comes off as almost rude and unwilling so this really needs to be addressed. Even saw a manager 'teaching a trainee' with a superior attitude right in front of me and I thought it was uncalled for. The only saving grace was the trainee was so much more welcoming and polite than senior staff and the dining staff who went of their way to interact and offer me comply coffee and pastries when I accompanied folks who had stayed overnight for breakfast. That is customer service and the rest of the staff shd really learn to put customers first. By the way, there are only awesome or disappointing options here so since I generally had a good time, I will choose awesome even though I'd rate overall as just above average given the drag down by service by the majority of senior staff.

I expected more from a 5 star hotel. I had my wedding there about 5 years ago, but today the service and facilities is a far cry from a 5 star standard hotel. The staff seems under trained, from the reception to the restaurant staff. At the reception, there was a long pause of about 3mins from sitting us down to begin the process of checking in. Not sure what was she busy with. Thereafter she asked which name did I book under when I have already given my ID to her. Luckily there was no queue behind me if not it would have been a jam. At the restaurant for breakfast buffet, I had to wait for more than a minute at the entrance with still no one attending to me, and so I had to self-service to approach a staff by myself. After a long 30mins wait from ordering, the wrong order came. The guests on my right waited even longer than 30mins before the staff verified their order. Throughout my meal I've also heard various complaints from other tables. Although it was a small restaurant and only half seated, the restaurant staff were seen working very hard. They were seen rushing about and sweating to serve and take order. The saving grace was the staff ' s good attitude, hard work and teamwork. But it takes more than just these staff qualities for a hotel to deserve being a 5 star. The staff have to be trained to produce quality services as well. On the other hand it is also not good for the staff image to be rushing about and sweating through their clothes, making them look unkempt and flustered. Making it seem like the hotel is keeping to a budget and hence understaffed and overworking the staff. The food spread for breakfast buffet was very limited (the least I have seen in all my staycations of more than 5 hotels so far), and yet each guest can only order a main ONCE. The drinks that I ordered never came, and I had to self-service from a dispenser that had barely any juices left, with glasses out of place that I have to search for. The food quality for breakfast buffet is bad for a 5 star hotel as well. The sausage was warm, but the bacon was soggy and chilled, and the toasted bread (which was supposed to be crunchy) was soft. It tasted like the food had been left waiting for some time before being served to me. All these experiences made me “full” from the loss of appetite. While I understand that the hotel may be trying to maintain a “heritage” colonial image, it ' s an invalid excuse for not upgrading the infrastructure, facilities and equipment like the lift and water kettle, which seems old and overused. I expected more from a 5 star hotel and the 5 star price that I have paid. If it was a budget hotel I would not have expected as much. Something must have gone wrong with the system that makes the staff works so hard but still not achieving the 5 star standard. Maybe the management have to stop resting on their laurels for being a 5 star hotel, and start revamping their system to be more efficient. I hope the Hotel Fort Canning can be answerable to my wife and I for these negative experiences.

Stayed here after our solemnisation with my husband as a mini honeymoon and getaway. Walking distance to plaza sing. No complimentary service provided for newlywed (I emailed and asked but nothing provided. Hotel receptionist also didn't offer any complimentary service although she did congratulated when we checked in hotel). Hotel and room design nice and breakfast selection not much but good too (good service by the staff in breakfast). Lost our way trying to find the pool so had to ask reception or staff for direction cause pool is so hard to find lol. For the small side entrance near carpark area, that area and entrance seems unguarded at night (quite dark) so anyone can walk into the lobby and don't need to safe entry check in when you come into lobby. My room was 217, can see a good view of the ground floor green patch area and can see opposite buildings near plaza sing. Bed comfy, no stains, no ordour. No robe to wear. Aircon abit noisy at night, no big deal. TV quite outdated and small, not much channels to see, no option for phone casting and can't plug in hard disk to see movie too. Hotel should consider upgrade TV. Hotel should provide an anti slip pad for the bath tub too. Most unpleasant part is the shower drainage area. I showered first so I was wondering why the water flooded at my feet level and drained so slowly. Out of curiosity I squatted down and use bare hand to pull up the drainage lid only to see gunks and fallen hairs all trapped and clogged there… Which meant the housekeeping didn't even clean this part before new guest come stay in the room… no choice I was halfway showering already, and I didn't ask my husband for help nor did I call hotel to come fix it. Out of quick response I just covered my hand with a plastic bag and pulled out those gunks and hairs and threw inside rubbish bin so that they couldn't clog anymore. And finally water started draining fast… so the hotel should really ask the housekeeping team to check all areas before new guest come stay. Again I didn't and don't wish to pursue this issue negatively and I didn't call hotel also because I was tired at that point of time and I just wanted to quickly done showering and rest in bed after a long day. Will still go HFC again for a quiet getaway if I have chance and hopefully have voucher to get lower room rate.

Generally it 's a beautiful hotel. It 's abit of a climb to get to but secluded and quiet. The room overlooks the CBD area and is peaceful. Need to be cautious about the floors as it was slippery when wet because it is marble. The tap sprays water outwards. Service standards abit slow, had to call multiple times for housekeeping services.

This is the worst staycation. The welcome desk customer service personnel doesn't even greet us when we reached. He doesn't even give us eye contact and speaks very softly. He asked for credit card which I handed to him. Other hotels just take the credit card but no deduction was made. The staff charged $ 50 to my card without saying anything. I arrived at 3.30pm on purpose as I did not want to wait to check in. Check in time stated was 2pm and at 3.30pm he told me that the room was not ready. No apology extended and I told him I purposely arrived late and then he gave me a room on the spot. Ridiculous.

The room look as in the pictures on the website. However, the service is really slow, for check-in and at restaurant.

Hotel was old and not in the best condition. It 's a pity as the hotel is located in such a pretty location. Hotel reception staff didn't have the best attitude as well. Definitely not worth the price paid for the 3D2N.

Room very spacious nice and clean. Conveniently located near MRT and shopping places. Feel like is in a resort surrounded by nature away from City life. The hotel staffs are friendly. A very comfortable happy relax and enjoyable stay!

Ridiculous.

Bathtub was amazing. The location was not exactly the best, and going to the swimming pool was inconvenient as well. Needed to cut through the carpark. Hotel feels a little run down, but it was peaceful.
