This is a nice hotel with a cool vibe. Located through a short passage in a mall-type location, check-in is on the 7th (top) floor. Right from the start when you check in with its automated keypad system (don’t worry, the attendant will assist) and the decor, you’ll understand the fun, modern vibe. The signage is all fun and invites you to smile at the descriptions they use. The rooms are on the smaller side but are sharp and pretty well appointed. The shower is a little unusual because it’s a glass box near the center of the room and accessed through the WC. So, if you want more privacy in case you’re traveling with someone you aren’t comfortable seeing naked, I’d say ask if all the rooms are like that. There are no minibars or even small refrigerators, but the staff offered to store whatever I wanted in their coolers behind the front desk. Following the vibe, they have a Marshall guitar amplifier in every room, and I suppose can lend you a guitar like at Hard Rock hotels. Uniquely, the bar/restaurant with a very limited food offering (pizza, salads, charcuterie), is open 24/7. If you want food in your room, there is no room service so you must pay at the bar and take it to your room yourself. Every one of the staff I encountered could not have been more pleasant or willing to help. Perhaps a way to describe this hotel brand is W Hotels meets Hard Rock Hotels. I would definitely return when visiting Geneva or if I found another Ruby Claire Hotel in another city.

Such a disappointing experience at this hotel which does not deserve its 4 star rating or price tag. They talk a lot about their “lean luxury philosophy” which is marketing talk for cost cutting and stripping back amenities to the detriment of their guests. There is nothing “luxurious” about arriving late at night to be greeted by an I-pad to complete a ridiculously long check in process that takes far more time and effort to complete than a normal check in. There was a member of staff present but they gave me no welcome and told me nothing about the hotel, breakfast, local area etc. I had questions about my booking which I didn't get to ask as the receptionist went to serve drinks instead. Self-check in is not “more streamlined” or more convenient, it’s a pain in the ass and only exists to save the hotel money. It created a terrible first impression of the hotel and immediately sent the message that they don't care about their guests. The “lean luxury” continues in the rooms where there is no fridge, no proper desk, no phone for contacting reception, thin cheap feeling towels and pillows and no tea, coffee or water. These can be accessed in the galleys-again at more inconvenience to the guest. The decor in the room is cheap and tacky and more like a 2 star hotel than 4. This is the kind of hotel more concerned with vibes and “feel” than decent customer service or amenities. Maybe drop the useless guitar amp in the rooms and concentrate on basic service & amenities.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The ‘lovely’ room was spotless, comfortable and spacious. I really appreciated that there is a well stocked galley on each floor for tea and coffee making. The location is perfect for the Lake, sights, dining and shopping, Gare Cornavin, great for walking and close to three tram stops (Molard, Bel-Air, Stand) for venturing further.
