Hôtel Universel in Rivière-du-Loup

We loved this hotel. The layout of our room was great for our family. Also liked the layout of the hotel. Pool area was very nice and clean. Only downside was that the hot tub wasn't working properly and the temperature was the same temp as the pool and the slide wasn't open for the kids to use either.

Very clean

Only arrived late, needed a place to sleep while travelling. Room was clean and we ended up using the pool and hot tub in the morning before we departed. Would recommend but were not at the hotel more than 10 hours.

I liked the restaurant on site. The meal was very good. Very friendly staff. Clean and well appointed.

WiFi was not working entire stay, been told different stories about WiFi, Netflix not working, TV nit working. Shower drain must be partially blocked it takes 10 min for the water to clear, shower head no pressure it is blocked needs to be changed, sink drain blocked water takes forever to clear. Staff front desk terrible service and not friendly at all. Being dishonest with the guest's is not acceptable . I would not recommend, i will not go again. Kids loved the pool but water was very cold

Great staff good restaurant excellent for snowmobile

Very nice hotel! Lots to do!! We stayed for a night while travelling long distance and the kids loved the pool and the free arcade machines! Lots nearby for food or anything you need. I highly recommend!!

i rented 2 rooms at this hotel because i was told it had hot tubs for guests to use when we went to use them they were cold and I was told that the ones we wanted we had to pay for them. I was disappointed

The game room is fun

I was very disappointed with my last stay here. My wife and I drove from Ottawa on December 24th (It's almost a 7 hour drive) and checked in around 9:30 PM. The person checking us in was mumbling the whole time, barely looked at me, and every time I asked a question, he had this stupid look on his face. I'm fully bilingual and spoke to him in French as well so it wasn't a language thing. We had a room on the first floor because we had our dog with us, and we had our own parking spot in front of our door. When I asked the front desk where the parking was, all he said was just around the corner.....There's like 50 parking spots just around the corner and the room numbers for each spot are barely visible unless you pull up right in front. We found our room, but the snow hadn't been cleared for several hours and we almost drove up the curve because the parking spot actually starts slightly to the right of the room and not directly in front. So I cleared the snow and parked the car. Already a bad experience so far, after a 7 hour drive. Then we checked into the room, and both my wife and I immediately looked at each other, and I say "Man it smells in here!". My wife thought it smelt like cat piss I thought it was more of an old cigarette smell. I complained to the front desk but they were "fully booked" and couldn't give us another room. So we slept the first night with the sliding door open. The furniture in the room looked more like a dumping ground than an actual hotel room.

Good spot

Pool was the highlight. The hot tub could have been warmer but the slide stole the show!

Fairly convenient highway access. Good parking. Not much around and the room was of average cleanliness and age.

They did not have my room ready at check in time

The room was nice, but there was something on the bedframe that could have been something I did not want to know…
