Great location! 5 minute walk to the Harbourfront, buses, ferry to Dartmouth, and close to the commons area. Check-in and check-out, we're quick and easy. Staff were always welcoming and helpful. Room is clean, spacious and comfortable. The thermostat is a little outdated, it has no auto setting, and can be a little loud at night.

the Barrington has not been maintained to past standards. Wallpaper is peeling, Windows were streaked and dirty. And the cleaning schedule, alternate days or after three days is not consistent with a class hotel that charges top dollar for their product.

Our original room was dingy and their mold in the conditioner bottle provided in the shower. We insisted they change our room which they did. New room was brighter but the a/c unit in the new room was quite loud. The men's sauna was broken and although we reported it, it was never fixed during our stay. The amenities in the room were meh. The quality of the shampoo/body wash provided in the shower was cheap. Had to go out an buy decent shampoo and conditioner. On the plus, the hotel was quiet and centrally located. Would be better if they provided a breakfast. Probably won't stay there again. Also the hotel had no free parking which was a negative.

Everything was clean. Staff super helpful. My mom who has mobility issues was able to borrow a wheelchair from the hotel so we could take her out for supper The location was super amazing in the heart of downtown Halifax and being able to have in/out parking privileges was awesome. The food (breakfast and supper) in the restaurant was also very yummy. On a downside. While clean, The hotel is a bit outdated and could use a minor refresh Also we had number of issues with the room card keys loosing its magnetism and having to get the front desk to reset the room key 2-3 times a day was a challenge but nothing that would stop me from going back Overall would give the hotel a 4/5

Clean, comfy beds and pillows. A slightly outdated look if you're looking for a modern feel this wouldn't suit you. Family-friendly comfort style. The food, breakfast especially at Tempo restaurant off the lobby is phenomenal! Good location, many restaurants close by, not too far from the harbour.

The hotel is dated but clean, beds were comfortable. Tempo restaurant off the lobby is very good. Parking is not included or on site but in the Scotia Square park are which is quite a trek if you don’t have good mobility. Biggest pet peeve was that the elevator and downward escalator to take to you to Level B where the Barrington is located were not operable for our entire week’s stay. The only other minor complaint was that I did not receive a receipt for my $150 deposit /parking fees.

We always enjoy our stay at the Barrington every time we visit Halifax. This time I booked a smaller room. My only complaint would be that the washroom counter wasn’t cleaned (soapy water residue) well but wasn't a big issue.

This hotel is pretty dated. The lobby looks mildly upgraded in the last 10 years, but from the elevators to the rooms and the guest floors, it all looks like original decor and is probably 40+ years old. My bedsheets felt stiff and not terribly comfortable. The lighting in the room was cold, and the air conditioner unit had a humming sound whenever it was not running. I had to turn the unit completely off to make the humming stop. The lobby restaurant, on the other hand, was obviously much more recently updated and was excellent. Location is excellent, but I wouldn't want to stay more than 1-2 nights here.
