I stayed at the hostel/hotel for one night. The facilities were clean, and the room as well. They had one communal shower area downstairs. They also had a good breakfast, which included some pizza! The people were really nice, because I was able to leave my luggage while I left on a 4-day tour to Salar de Uyuni. I retrieved my luggage no problem when I returned, and that was really cool of the staff to let me do that. The wi-fi there had very strong service, as well!
Stayed here for 6 nights and didn't want to leave! The first thing we noticed was how clean it was, especially as it's in a dusty desert! The cleaning team do a fabulous job.
The hostel is a nice size, pretty peaceful (or maybe it was just quiet when we stayed), secure at night, and our private double was a good size. Pillows could be more plump and smooth but that's my only slight negative point.
You can use the showers up til 10pm and they're fab, great pressure and always had hot water. You're asked to limit it to 5 mins due to being in the desert which I had no issues with :)
There's a good-sized kitchen, only has a hob so no oven or microwave, but we ate out every night so it wasn't an issue. There are plenty of places and things to do in San Pedro, and this hostel is within 1 minute's walk of all the bars, shops and restaurants. Perfect!
I worried about there being no air con, but did some research and air con isn't standard in San Pedro as it cools at night, so we left our windows open and it was ideal.
I have to mention the WiFi, there is a strong signal all over the hostel, even in the rooms - some big city hotels we've stayed in haven't even got signal in the rooms! It really makes a difference when you're trying to research tours or your next travel move.
To us, it felt more like a hotel than a hostel, there is a Hotel Corvatsch and other hotels in the area but for the price and quality we would definitely stay at Corvatsch again - I highly recommend it!
This was a perfect choice for me, traveling solo. I stayed a full week, spent part of each day sitting in the sunny courtyard reading, but also took daily excursions into the desert. I booked many of them through Corvatsch and while there are shops around town that may be somewhat cheaper, the efficiency and ease of doing it almost all through them was worth the only slightly added expense. The room was cozy, clean and comfortable, bathrooms very clean, hot water, fresh towels. I found all of the staff to be very friendly, many of them English-speaking, helpful at problem-solving. And being right in town but just on the edge made it both super convenient and very quiet. Great choice!
