Very old & tired hotel bang in middle of town. Only stay if you are desperate for a stop off. Room on front of hotel, not double glazed. Street closes from 2100 as below are pubs/bars open until 0200. Desperately noisy until 0300. Breakfast ok. Would never stay there again, booked in hurry en route to Glasgow. Read other reviews, I didn’t!

It would be great if the car park was marked out better for all. We were on the 3rd floor and there was a tree growing out the window sill. Shaver point too high no where to rest shaver/ electric toothbrush. Windows filthy. T V too high. Soap dispenser too close to where you are showering.

Shabby but adequate for a couple of nights. Parking was ok for us but it could be a problem if there are a lot of guests. It’s first come, first served for about 25-30 spaces; there are other car parks in the vicinity. We didn’t eat there; it’s very close to the city centre and there is plenty of choice in the area. Room was ok but beds could have been made better as the mattress was visible at the bedhead but it was comfortable and a fan had been provided as it was pretty warm! Certainly worth the money we paid (as cheap as some youth hostels). Floors creak which disturbed us occasionally

How were your Hosts? 8/10 Greeted with a friendly welcome. And talked through everything we needed to know to set ourselves up for the weekend. How clean was the County Hotel? 6/10 A few marks on the bedding. At breakfast there were marks on some of the cups and bowls. The cups were on the tables ready for the guests, the marks were clear to see. How were the facilities and amenities? 4/10 The fixtures and fittings are dated. The bathroom has one type of soap for hands, hair and body. The hotel has a lift but is is very old and we tried a number of times and were successful once. Luckily we were on the first floor. I would have struggled if we're were any higher. How did you sleep? 6/10 The hotel is noisy. The doors move when another door is opened. There was lots of outside noise. The windows are single glazed they do have a screen however thet doesnt reduce any noise. The hotel is on a main road with pubs and bars, we didn't hear much noise for them, but at 1:30am one of the bar emptied lots of bottles, which would wake most people. However I do feel rested and the sleep I did have was comfortable. How was breakfast? 6/10 The cooked breakfast elements were low quality and lacks flavour. The coffee has a cheap bitter taste. The continental had a good range of items and good quality. I wouldn't say it is worth £12 per adult. However ours was free with our booking. Would you stay again ? Yes, but......... It is a nice hotel, and I slept well. We would look at

Didn’t realise had to pay for parking until after we booked. It’s says secure parking but the barrier never was down. Very noisy at noght as we were above where they throw the beer bottles in the bin. So at about 12:30 ish we woke up to them doing that. Would not stay here again.

Unfortunately not a great experience. Booked a family room as travelling with my son & my mum. Nowhere on booking did it say that our room had 67x steps to access (despite only being on the first floor). My mum struggles with walking distances & stairs and really struggled to access the room. Completely unsuitable for families also who would be travelling with cases/pushchairs/equipment etc….. not mentioned anywhere when booking. The room was spacious but outdated. The windows would not fully close meaning we spent a good proportion of the night listening to screaming, shouting, & fighting on the street outside. Poor night sleep for all. Won’t be visiting again unfortunately!

We have never stopped in a room that was so smelly and noisy. The room smelled of wet dog. The bath smelled foisty and damp. Our room was above 2 night clubs. The window didn't shut properly so we heard evey beat of music. We could even hear beeping of the crossing beside the railway station .

The bed was comfortable but that’s about it, the room was dated. When I booked I asked for a wheelchair accessible room and was given a room on the second floor with the only access by lift which is old and unreliable and broke down on our second day, the room was no way an accessible room as it had a bath and a toilet where the door couldn’t be closed if in a wheelchair. It’s a place to stay if you need to get your head down when drunk and that’s about it.

Staff are excellent go above and beyond breakfast very tasty and no rush to finish parking could be better if people didn’t block the entrance room not the cleaners fault but there was a hole in the duvet cover and the net curtains were shabby
