The Bowes Incline

A lovely pub & hotel with good food and very attentive staff. The room was recently refurbished and was very comfortable. The only negative was that the room was cold. I raised this with reception who said they would press the boost? The heating came on for a bit and then went off again. Again I spoke to reception (I’m not particularly fussy but my hands were actually cold) and they repeated that someone will press the boost. Not ideal on a cold night. Breakfast was lovely though.

Fabulous country Hotel down a twisty lane. Very welcoming Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely room comfortable bed. Big bathroom with walk in shower .Nice big restaurant and bar plenty to choose from the menu portions are very big tho. Breakfast was good . Highly recommend this hotel good value.

Nice room with all the basics you’d expect. Very hearty traditional food, great staff who are very friendly. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay here for any more trips to the area.

Stay here several times a year when working in the north east. Fantastic hotel, friendly staff and the food is spot on.

An EV charger would be beneficial. Staff are pleasant and breakfast was great. Nice rooms with slightly dodgy water pressure on the shower but not bad. Really comfy bed and would definitely recommend.

A bery comfortable stay. TV reception needs sorting out. If you don’t like ITV then tough! Not many other channels available.

Great choice of beers, great food,friendly staff, but inconsiderate residents dont know how to be quiet going to the rooms and talk with doors open that after a short time start wailing

This is the second time I have started here with the last time being in the Summer. As last time, the staff were great and the food is spot on - especially breakfast. Be warned, breakfast portions are big! The only negatives are that there should be at least a bottle of water in the room but more of an issue was the the room heating is switched off centrally somewhere around 9:30pm. I was still doing some work at the desk and the room when pretty cold quite quickly. I appreciate the cost management but had my wife been staying, it would not have been acceptable. I will stay again and do recommend this lovely hotel but be aware of the heating situation through the winter.

Friendly and welcoming Rooms are clean and modern decor

Excellent from the moment of check in to the breakfast on leaving day, Rooms were newly renovated and had everything you needed, Food and choice was excellent, defo booking again

A fantastic stay, a real gem. The room was lovely and well equipped and all the staff were so friendly and attentive.

Comfortable room, good food, helpful and friendly staff. Popular with locals which is always a good sign. Not far from Angel of the North too.

It’s very isolated and quiet even though it’s close to the A1
