VALO Hotel & Work Helsinki

Quiet and clean. Staff friendly The television did not work because their was no Internet No phones are in the room

It was warm and cozy, I loved the wellness area, the breakfast and customer service was good as well as the location of the hotel. I did not like the size of the bathroom esp the washing sinks its too tiny.

The reception were helpful and pleasant. Staff kept the reception area clean and presentable. Cleanliness of the room was mediocre as I found multiple hairs from the previous clients around the bathroom and floor. Also, found a small dead mosquito or fly on the blanket. Floor of the room was not in best shape, as stains can be found. Soap dispensers were not refilled, even though I removed and opened them from the shelf/bracket. Overall, I give it 3 stars.

The room was efficient yet comfortable. But what put it over the top for me was the breakfast buffet. And although not centrally located, it was easy and efficient to get anywhere by public transportation.

Wonderful 8 night stay- clean, welcoming with attentive staff, excellent restaurant though limited menu choices, Many enjoyable hours spent at the rooftop spa.

The hotel is different to other hotels with regards to its catering for large work conference type of meetings. This meant that the restaurants was full at both Lunch and dinner. They offered to allow me to eat food in the reception area....I tried to have room service, but there was a very high charge, with the food being very pricey already. Not many food options locally to the hotel, so I had to look further afield. I booked this hotel, over others in the area, due to the pool and spa area that looked very appealing. On check in i was told it was 25 Euros a day to use these areas though, very very disappointing. The gym was free, though, but its a very small area, with a handful of equipment that gets crowded very quickly. Next time I return, I will not look to stay here again.

This was probably 20th time to stay there---girls in reception are just so fantastic and friendly. not the main reason to stay in Valo, but just to mention. great price, easy parking, great beds and pillows and it is so quiet there!

The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly. The wellness center with a sauna and jacuzzi was superb. My room was not large but comfortable.

From having rooms that have windowns right next to a windowed hallway (so that you cant have your curtains openned if you want any slither of privacy), charging extra for a bathrobe after you already payed for the spa area, to rusty shower parts with hadsoup for shampoo, its absurd that this place is 4 stars, the spa area is good, but not to the point of bringing this place up to 4 stars

The health club/spa is worth the money because of the proper Finnish saunas and the atmosphere. Nice breakfast with quality vegan options. Room is compact and well thought through. Very convenient with 15-20min drive from Helsinki-Vantaa airport.

VALO was very clean and tidy, but wouldn’t recommend it for someone on vacation. The Comfort sized room was VERY small, and the bathroom was laughable. Definitely too small for three adults plus luggage. The whole place has a super hipster vibe, but unfortunately that makes the check in process a little difficult. The kiosks they have for check in/out are not user friendly, but neither is the staff. They were a little rude. At first I thought, maybe that’s just the way Finnish people come across, but while exploring Helsinki I realized that no, that’s just how the staff at the VALO is. When my wife asked for information about a particular massage, the staff member at reception responded, “well I don’t know because I’ve never had one.” That shouldn’t matter, as the staff member should at least have a basic knowledge of what services are offered at their property. Also, it’s a bit of a trek to any of the touristy things. I will say, the breakfast is awesome. A little bit of something for everyone. And the yogurt bar is the best breakfast offering we’ve seen in a hotel breakfast. Overall, wasn’t the worst place we’ve stayed, but definitely not the best.

Nice breakfast, very nice feel to hotel. Only complaint would be the lack of control over room temperature which was too warm dur the day.
