Alila Solo? Seems we will back there. Why? Started with the greeting from Ms. Febby at the reception desk who welcomed us nicely and even remembered our last visit in 2022. Thank you, Ma'am, for the very prompt and nice service. Then we met Ms. Lesslye at the rooftop lounge during breakfast time. She gave us comprehensive explanations about the menus. Also, thank you to Ms. Agustin from the reception desk who helped me with the incident of the broken glass in our room, and the female guard at the parking lot in the basement who helped us park and then leave the lot. For the food, the lounge provided various food and beverages, but I suggest you taste their Indonesian food. Highly recommended! Alila Solo also has an Indonesian Restaurant, Mantik, at the GF. Their nasi cumi and lemongrass tea are highly recommended. Thank you, Alila, for our lovely experience.

More about hotels in Bumi

Discover Laweyan: A Cultural Tapestry in the Heart of Indonesia

Laweyan, a district within the vibrant city of Surakarta, Indonesia, offers a unique cultural immersion that resonates deeply with international travellers seeking authenticity beyond the typical tourist trails. Unlike the bustling metropolises or the well-trodden beach destinations, Laweyan presents a more intimate and historically rich experience, particularly for those drawn to the intricate artistry of batik and the echoes of colonial-era architecture. It’s a place where the past is not just preserved but actively lived, offering a tangible connection to Indonesia's heritage.

The district itself is a mosaic of distinct neighbourhoods, each contributing to the overall character of Laweyan. From the traditional batik-making heartland of Laweyan proper to the more modern commercial hubs like Purwosari, and the quieter residential pockets such as Jajar and Penularan, the area offers a diverse range of atmospheres. Sondakan and Kerten provide further variations, while Bumi and Sriwedari add their own unique flavours, ensuring that where you choose to base yourself significantly shapes your exploration of this captivating region.

With a starting price of just USD 6.26 per night and an impressive average review score of 8.3 from over 1,500 guest experiences, Laweyan stands out as an exceptional value destination. For travellers from the United States and Europe, this translates into an opportunity to experience rich cultural heritage and comfortable accommodation without the premium price tags often associated with similar historical districts elsewhere in Asia. Indian travellers will find the affordability particularly appealing, allowing for extended stays and deeper exploration of local life.

The accommodation landscape in Laweyan mirrors its diverse appeal, ranging from the charmingly historic Roemahkoe Heritage Hotel, offering a glimpse into colonial-era living, to the modern conveniences found at SUPER OYO Capital O 1644 Hotel Griya Kencana. These properties, alongside many others, provide a spectrum of choices for every budget and preference. Travellers can easily book hotel stays that suit their needs, setting the stage for an enriching visit.

Laweyan draws to a variety of international visitors. American travellers might appreciate the blend of adventure and cultural discovery, exploring batik workshops and historical sites. Europeans, with their keen interest in history and culture, will find the preserved architecture and traditional crafts particularly engaging. Indian families often seek destinations offering good value and cultural resonance, making Laweyan an attractive option. For travellers from African nations, particularly those with regional connections, Laweyan offers a unique Indonesian cultural experience that is both accessible and rewarding.
