From the moment I arrived, I was treated like a queen by the staff. The car door was opened, the staff smiled, and they were very friendly. The check-in process was fast, and I got my own welcome drink. Refillable mineral water is a rarity in any hotel. When checking out, I reported that the children broke a glass. The staff responded, Masha Allah, by asking, "Is anyone hurt, ma'am?" and they'll take care of it. And they didn't charge a fine. This is the best hotel. If anyone wants to, give it 100⭐. ❤️

My two-night stay at Zigna Hotel was very impressive, with comfort, friendliness, and helpfulness. The location is also very accessible, close to the Laweyan batik industry, street food stalls, coffee shops, and more. If I travel to Solo again, I'll definitely stay at Zigna again.

If you're looking for a hotel in the heart of Solo that's close to everything and affordable, Pop Hotel is the solution. In my opinion, the rooms, although average for a hotel, are quite comfortable. The hotel facilities are also okay, like the TV has Netflix, Spotify, YouTube. I think it's enough, even the hot water is on. The housekeeping is also very clean when you ask for the room to be cleaned. Room service is also very good service, even though the delivery person is still a trainee, the food is also very delicious. The front office team is also nice, at that time I couldn't check in early and when I was able to check in, they immediately WhatsApp me. Such a nice reminder. Highly recommend to people!

For under 300 rupiah, it was totally worth it. Yesterday, I deliberately chose the non-breakfast option because I was too lazy to wake up early, so I ordered a meal right before checking out. The price was amazingly cheap and the food was delicious. I have no regrets. Next time I pass through Solo, I'll definitely stay there again. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to take photos of the hotel because I was completely asleep.

At the beginning of our trip from Jogja, we were still confused about which hotel to stay at. While driving towards Jogja, we checked several hotels at every traffic light and found this Amrani Syariah Hotel 😍. We didn't expect to be greeted by the friendliness of the staff. Besides, the elevator was also okay for us who brought a baby, and the room space was quite spacious. In addition, each room has a prayer robe and prayer mat plus there is a direction of Qibla. The TV remote battery ran out, but we called and it didn't take long to be taken to the room. The mirror is very spacious for the girls, guaranteed to feel at home, every second is satisfied looking in the mirror 😁. The breakfast is really good for that price. And we WA directly with the hotel for check-out time, we checked out at 11:45 hehe. For those who want to spend the night in Solo, have a good breakfast, a more economical budget, a peaceful and serene heart and mind, you can stay at Amrani Hotel guysss 😘

More about hotels in Bumi

Discover Laweyan: A Cultural Tapestry Beyond the Usual Indonesian Itinerary

Laweyan, a district within the vibrant city of Surakarta in Central Java, Indonesia, offers a unique cultural immersion that distinguishes it from the more commonly visited tourist hubs. For international travellers seeking an authentic Indonesian experience, Laweyan presents a captivating blend of historical significance, traditional crafts, and a relaxed pace of life. Unlike the bustling metropolises or the well-trodden beach destinations, Laweyan invites exploration into its rich heritage, particularly its renowned batik industry, providing a deeper understanding of Javanese artistry and daily life. This region serves as a gateway to understanding the soul of Central Java, far from the typical tourist trails.

The charm of Laweyan lies in its distinct neighbourhoods, each offering a different facet of the local experience. From the historic batik villages of Bumi and Laweyan itself, where traditional workshops still thrive, to the more modern commercial areas like Purwosari and Kerten, the district provides a varied landscape. Sondakan offers a glimpse into local community life, while Jajar and Penularan might reveal quieter residential pockets. Sriwedari, though perhaps more known for its broader city context, also contributes to the diverse character of the area. Understanding these nuances is key to crafting a personalised itinerary, as choosing where to base yourself can significantly shape your perception of Laweyan.

With a starting price of approximately ₱ 385.69 per night and an impressive average review score of 8.3 from over 1,500 guest experiences, Laweyan stands out as an exceptionally value-driven destination for international visitors. This affordability, especially when compared to popular destinations in Southeast Asia or even other parts of Indonesia, allows travellers from the US, Europe, and India to extend their stays and explore more deeply without straining their budgets. The high review score indicates consistent quality and guest satisfaction, assuring visitors that affordability does not come at the expense of a positive travel experience.

The accommodation landscape in Laweyan mirrors its diverse offerings, ranging from the historically significant Roemahkoe Heritage Hotel, a charming 1-star property that immerses guests in colonial-era ambiance, to the more contemporary SUPER OYO Capital O 1644 Hotel Griya Kencana, a 2-star option providing essential comforts. These examples highlight the spectrum of choices available, catering to different preferences and budgets. Whether you seek a boutique experience or a functional base, Traveloka provides a comprehensive platform to book hotel rooms that suit your needs, ensuring a comfortable stay as you explore this unique Indonesian region.

Laweyan appeals to a broad spectrum of international travellers. For US and European visitors, its historical depth, particularly the batik heritage and colonial architecture, offers a rich cultural and artistic exploration. Indian travellers will find familiar culinary influences and a comfortable price point, making it an accessible destination for extended exploration. African travellers, while perhaps less commonly visiting this specific region, can find a similar sense of community and a rich cultural tapestry that resonates with many African traditions, offering a unique cross-cultural discovery.

What to Eat and Where to Find It in Laweyan

Laweyan, located within the culinary heartland of Central Java, offers a gastronomic journey that is both deeply traditional and surprisingly diverse. The region is celebrated for its distinctive Javanese cuisine, with dishes that showcase a delicate balance of sweet, savoury, and spicy flavours. For international visitors, exploring Laweyan's food scene is an integral part of understanding its culture. From the iconic Nasi Liwet, a fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and spices, to the rich and tender Sop Saudara, a flavourful beef soup, the local specialities promise a memorable culinary adventure that reflects the soul of Indonesian cooking.

When it comes to dining, Laweyan and its surrounding areas provide a spectrum of experiences. The historic Laweyan village itself, along with neighbourhoods like Bumi and Purwosari, are dotted with local warungs (small eateries) and more established restaurants serving authentic Javanese fare. For Muslim travellers, finding Halal food is generally straightforward, as the majority of eateries in Indonesia adhere to Halal practices. Look for signs indicating "Halal" or simply observe that most establishments serve dishes prepared according to Islamic dietary laws, ensuring a comfortable dining experience for all.

The cost of dining in Laweyan offers excellent value for international travellers. Street food and meals at local warungs can range from as little as ₱ 30 to ₱ 100 per person, providing an authentic taste of local flavours without breaking the bank. Mid-range restaurants typically charge between ₱ 200 to ₱ 500 per person for a full meal, offering a more comfortable dining environment. Even upscale dining experiences are considerably more affordable than in many Western countries, with a three-course meal for two costing around ₱ 800 to ₱ 1,500, making Laweyan an accessible destination for food enthusiasts.

Navigating dining etiquette in Laweyan is generally relaxed, but a few pointers can enhance your experience. It's customary to eat with your right hand, though utensils are widely provided and accepted. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for excellent service, usually around 5-10% of the bill. Meal times are similar to Western schedules, with lunch being the main meal of the day. When visiting local eateries, a polite greeting and a smile go a long way, and it's always a good idea to try a few local phrases to show respect for the culture.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Laweyan

Understanding local customs and etiquette is key to a respectful and enjoyable visit to Laweyan. Javanese culture places a high value on politeness, respect for elders, and maintaining harmony. When interacting with locals, a gentle demeanour and a willingness to learn are highly appreciated. It's customary to greet people with a smile and a slight nod. While dress codes are generally relaxed in tourist areas, dressing modestly, especially when visiting religious sites or more traditional neighbourhoods, is advisable. Avoid using your left hand for passing objects or eating, as it is traditionally considered unclean.

When visiting specific landmarks like Java Zest Bakery Laweyan or SD Muhammadiyah Laskar Sebelas, it's important to be mindful of the local context. If these are educational institutions or community spaces, observe quiet decorum and seek permission before taking photographs of people. For businesses like bakeries, a polite queue and respectful interaction with staff are standard. Understanding that these places are part of the local fabric, not just tourist attractions, will guide your behaviour and ensure a positive experience for both you and the community.

Laweyan is generally a safe destination for international travellers, with low crime rates. However, as with any travel, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded markets or on public transport. For transportation, ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely available and offer a convenient and relatively safe way to get around. Familiarise yourself with the approximate fares to avoid any misunderstandings. Walking in well-lit areas at night is generally safe, but it's always best to be cautious.

In case of emergencies, the local police number is typically 110. For medical assistance, dial 118 for an ambulance. While Laweyan is part of Indonesia, it's crucial for Filipino travellers to know the location of the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate in Indonesia, which is typically located in Jakarta, for any consular assistance. It is also highly recommended to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and unforeseen events. Staying informed about any advisories from the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) before your trip is also a prudent step.

Getting to Laweyan and Getting Around

Reaching Laweyan from the Philippines is a journey that typically involves flying into Adisumarmo International Airport (SOC) near Surakarta, which serves the Laweyan district and the wider Solo region. Flights from Manila (MNL) or Cebu (CEB) will usually involve at least one layover, often in major hubs like Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, or Jakarta. The total travel time can range from 7 to 12 hours or more, depending on the layover duration and airline.
