I stayed for a night for the experience and while it was expensive, I did regret not staying for at least another night. The machiya was clean and well maintained even though it was around a hundred years old. Walking around the surrounding area was a nice peaceful escape from the crowded tourist spots and there are good food options around as well. My recommendation is a ramen restaurant called NEW Taihou on the main street.

Perfect stay. The room was great, full with high quality amenities, they cleaned up every day. Front office ladies are so warmly greeted, and luckily they allowed me to check in early in the middle of the winter season. The have 1 relaxing room beside the check in counter for free flow coffee tea and candy, which is great 😊. Neighborhood is great. Near train station, bus stops, sevel, lawson, mcd, even Starbucks is in the corner. Definitely will stay there again if I come back to Kyoto.

The staff were friendly and accommodating! We had to take a bus from Kyoto Station to the hotel. It was a short journey, so it wasn't much of a hassle. The hotel and the room were clean, the facilities were there as stated. There are Lawson and 7-Eleven nearby the hotel, so it was convenient for us to grab supper or a light breakfast.

The hotel building is still new, clean and comfortable. Strategic location close to Kyoto station, just walk. Exit the hotel and find Aeon Mall, lots of places to eat there.
