The hotel is very old, even though its lobby looked like a palace! But they still use real key to access to my room (not the modern room key card with sensors) which was what I had when I was little (like 30 years ago when I travelled abroad) which , surprised me a bit, lol, maybe it is designed to stay that way since Nara is also an old city? I wondered. Inside the room was clean though, but all facilities looked outdated such as bathtub, faucet sink, ect but if you are like me who doesn’t need fancy hotels then it works fine! I had to ride limousine bus to Itami airport from JR Nara station to fly back to Haneda the next day after visiting Nara Park, so it was convenient!

Nikko Nara Hotel is most conveniently located, connected to Nara Station. Quaint Starbucks and Tourist Guide Centre next to station. Near to main road leading to town centre, with food streets, temples and past a small lake that eventually leads to Nara Deer Park. The hotel service is immaculate. Beautiful lobby which is well furnished. A small lounge next to the lobby provides hotel guests a place to have complimentary coffee cookies and drinks in the afternoons. The hotel rooms unfortunately are rather compact, in original condition and requires refurbishing. Since we sleep in the room and not in the hotel lobby, it would be ideal if Nikko Nara could invest in refurbishing the guest rooms, which would make it the perfect hotel to stay whenever we are back in Nara.

This hotel was really cool! Right next to the station but was very quiet! Also lived that you can lock your bags up/utilize a locker to store bags while waiting for check in so you can explore Nara worry free! Staff was very nice and the restaurant in the hotel was a great experience!!

Very tiny room, 2 twin beds were together, 1 inch thick mattress-hurt my back. Super small bathroom. Not worth the money. Location was only good thing.

The hotel and facilities are not updated. No USB charger or international adapter in my room. I was using my own power bank to charge my mobile. Staff was helpful and polite if you have enquiries. The exhaust fan was not working in my bathroom. The mirror and everything were wet and sweaty. I did not notice that after I showered and it was late night, so I did not contact staff till I checked out.
Nothing wrong with their staff and service, but they definitely need to upgrade their hardware and get the rooms renovated. I was surprised when they handed me a silver key with key ring while checking in, but not a keycard.

This hotel is right beside Nara JR station. It is very clean
and convenience to go around. All hotel staffs are supper nice and helpful. The room is pretty big and full filled of accessory. We will definitely stay back.
