The place is very cozy. It is like a home away from home. Staff are very friendly. Definitely will be back here. I love the fact that there is a living room and kitchen in our room. There is ample of drying clothes line that we could hang our soaked clothes for easy drying. Rooms were also kept clean, and water and bath supplies are replenished every day without the need to request.

Best Areas to Stay in Aklan

Aklan, particularly the island of Boracay which forms its most famous attraction, is not a monolithic destination. Instead, it is a mosaic of distinct neighbourhoods and districts, each offering a unique atmosphere and set of experiences. For international visitors, understanding these variations is crucial, as choosing the right base can significantly shape the entire holiday. From the lively hubs of activity to more tranquil enclaves, Aklan’s districts provide a spectrum of environments to suit diverse travel preferences.

Station 1, Boracay Island

Station 1 is often considered the most upscale and serene part of Boracay's White Beach. It is characterized by its wider stretch of powdery sand and calmer waters, making it an ideal spot for travellers seeking a more refined and peaceful beach experience. This area tends to attract visitors from the United States and Europe who appreciate its luxurious resorts and quieter ambiance, offering a sophisticated retreat away from the more bustling areas, yet still providing easy access to the island's amenities.

From Station 1, visitors have direct access to some of Boracay's most iconic stretches of sand and are within easy reach of Puka Beach, known for its unique shell-laden shores. While it offers a sense of seclusion, it is still well-connected to the island's main attractions. Getting to Station 1 typically involves a flight into Kalibo Airport (KLO), followed by a land transfer to Caticlan Jetty Port, and then a short boat ride to Boracay. From there, local tricycles can take you directly to your accommodation, allowing you to easily book attractions and explore the island.

Yapak, Boracay Island

Yapak, located at the northern tip of Boracay Island, is synonymous with exclusivity and breathtaking natural beauty, housing some of the island's most prestigious resorts. This area offers a more secluded and tranquil escape, often featuring private beaches and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding ocean. It appeals to discerning travellers, particularly those from the United States and Europe, who seek a luxurious and private holiday experience, away from the main crowds, while still being a short transfer from the island's vibrant centres.

This district is home to some of Aklan's most exclusive properties and provides access to quieter beaches and natural landscapes. While it offers a serene environment, it is still within reasonable distance of popular spots like Puka Beach. Access to Yapak involves the standard route via Kalibo Airport (KLO) or Caticlan Airport, followed by a boat transfer to Boracay and then a tricycle ride to the resorts in this area. The journey, while involving multiple steps, rewards visitors with unparalleled tranquility and luxury.

Station 2, Boracay Island

Station 2 is the vibrant heart of Boracay, a bustling hub of activity, dining, and entertainment. It is where D'Mall, the island's central shopping and dining complex, is located, offering a lively atmosphere that appeals to a broad range of travellers. This area is particularly popular with younger travellers and those who enjoy being in the centre of the action, making it a magnet for visitors from India and Africa looking for convenience and a dynamic social scene, alongside its proximity to the main beach.

Station 2 is the nexus of Boracay's commercial and social life, offering unparalleled access to a vast array of restaurants, bars, and shops. It's also a convenient starting point for exploring other parts of the island, including the famous White Beach and nearby attractions. Travellers arriving via Kalibo Airport (KLO) will find that Station 2 is a central point after the ferry transfer, with numerous transport options readily available to explore the island or head to other areas like Station 3.

Station 3, Boracay Island

Station 3 represents the more laid-back and budget-friendly side of Boracay's White Beach. It offers a more relaxed vibe compared to the energetic Station 2, with a good selection of more affordable accommodations, local eateries, and smaller resorts. This area is attractive to backpackers and travellers from India and Africa who are seeking value for money and a more authentic, less commercialized beach experience, while still being within walking distance of the island's main attractions and amenities.

Station 3 provides a more tranquil beachfront experience while remaining conveniently located. It’s a great base for exploring the southern end of White Beach and offers a more relaxed atmosphere for enjoying the sunsets. Access from Kalibo Airport (KLO) follows the usual route: flight to Caticlan, boat transfer to Boracay, and then a tricycle ride to Station 3. This area is ideal for those who want to be close to the action but prefer a quieter place to rest after a day of exploring.

Bulabog Beach

Bulabog Beach, located on the opposite side of Boracay from White Beach, is renowned as a world-class destination for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Its consistent winds and shallow waters make it a mecca for water sports enthusiasts, attracting a more adventurous crowd. This area offers a different vibe from the main tourist strip, with a more bohemian and sporty feel, appealing to younger travellers and those seeking adrenaline-fueled activities, particularly from European countries with strong outdoor sports cultures.

This beach is a hub for water sports and offers a unique perspective on Boracay's active side. While not ideal for swimming due to its wind conditions, it's a spectacle of colourful kites and sails. Access is similar to other parts of Boracay, typically involving a transfer from Kalibo Airport (KLO) to Caticlan, a boat ride, and then a short tricycle journey. It’s a great area for those who want to be close to the action of water sports and enjoy a more energetic, less conventional beach scene.

Diniwid Beach

Diniwid Beach is a small, picturesque cove located at the northernmost end of Boracay, just beyond Station 1. It offers a more secluded and intimate beach experience, with clear waters and dramatic cliffside views. This charming spot is perfect for couples and travellers seeking a peaceful escape, reminiscent of a hidden cove. Its exclusivity attracts visitors from the United States and Europe who are looking for a tranquil setting with stunning natural beauty, away from the main tourist thoroughfares.

This secluded beach is a tranquil retreat, offering a more private setting for relaxation and swimming. It’s a short walk or tricycle ride from Station 1, making it accessible yet feeling worlds away. The journey involves the standard Boracay access route via Kalibo Airport (KLO) and Caticlan. Diniwid Beach is ideal for a day trip or for those staying in nearby accommodations who wish to experience a quieter, more intimate side of Boracay’s famed coastline.

Puka Beach

Puka Beach, situated on the northern tip of Boracay Island, is famous for its natural beauty and the abundance of puka shells that give it its name. It offers a more rustic and less developed beach experience compared to White Beach, with a wilder, more natural charm. This area is perfect for travellers seeking a more authentic and less crowded beach, appealing to those who appreciate natural landscapes and a quieter atmosphere, including visitors from India and Africa looking for scenic beauty.

Puka Beach is a significant natural landmark, offering a different coastal experience with its unique shell-covered shores and clear waters. It's a popular spot for collecting shells and enjoying the natural scenery. While it has fewer commercial establishments than White Beach, it offers a more serene environment. Access is typically via tricycle from the main stations, making it an easy excursion from most parts of Boracay, and a worthwhile visit for its distinct natural appeal.

Cagban Beach

Cagban Beach is primarily known as the arrival point for most travellers to Boracay, located near the Cagban Port. While not a primary tourist beach for lounging, it offers a functional entry point and a glimpse into the local maritime activity. Its convenient location makes it a point of reference for transit and logistics rather than a destination for relaxation, though its proximity to the port means it's a busy area with local life and transport services.

As the main gateway to Boracay, Cagban Beach is a bustling area characterized by the constant flow of boats and travellers. It serves as a crucial transit point, connecting the mainland to the island. Visitors arriving via Kalibo Airport (KLO) will pass through this area after their boat transfer. While not a typical leisure spot, its significance as an entry point makes it a necessary point of reference for navigating the initial stages of a Boracay visit.
