Second stay at the Kingsmills and really couldn’t fault the standard of room, food and staff. Positives are - easy, free parking, spacious modern rooms, large comfortable beds amazing buffet breakfast. Very reasonable prices. Would 100% stay again.

We enjoyed our time at the pool area. We brought our own towels and robes as we have seen some dreadful ones at other hotels. The loungers aren’t very comfy and there are only 4 so if the area was busy that would be a problem.

The room, staff, and food were all excellent. Very friendly, clean, and inviting. What wasn’t was the pack of locals who felt as though the sauna, jacuzzi, pool, and steam room belonged to them. Our experience trying to have a relaxing evening in the indoor pool area was really a low point of our entire trip to Scotland. I believe community members may purchase access to the gym, etc., which is totally fine and lovely. What wasn’t fine and lovely were the two men who seemed to think the place belonged to them and that we, as tourists, were a bother and an unwelcome addition to THEIR sauna. I love Scotland and have visited more than once. This is the only time I have ever felt uncomfortable and disliked simply because my traveling partner and I were sitting in a sauna. Excuse me for my existence, sir. These men made it very clear that they disliked tourists.

Not up to standards. Definitely not what you would expect from a 4 stars luxury stay, a facility that -according to locals- is "the best in town". While the facility is beautiful and the staff is nice, it pains me to say that, next time, we will consider staying at an AirBnB in the city centre and possibly use the hotels restaurant and facilities - no special treatment is reserved for the hotel guests. We were told that we had to book our dinner in the restaurant in advance and that if we were 15 min late we would loose our table; and I was unable to spend my day at the spa as I was planning. It was fully booked: although the reception managed to book me a last minute massage, and even though it was mothers day, we were highly surprised that being a hotel guest (in one of the supposedly best rooms!) did not grant you any kind of preferred treatment for the spa - and we would have been more than happy to pay good money for it. And finally, the service was not one you would expect from a luxury hotel. Most importantly, I told the staff several times that I was celiac, but they nonetheless served me a regular biscuit reassuring me that it was gluten free (it was not). I am sure it was an innocent mistake, but yet, a very big one, which added to the numerous small ones has made sure that we will not be going back to this hotel.
