Muthu Oban Hotel

Stayed for 2 nights at this recently renovated hotel. The room was small and basic but clean. TV reception was not great. Parking in the hotel forecourt is extremely limited, but I managed to find parking on the road outside, which was free overnight, but only maximum of 2 hours paid parking during the day (fortunately, this was not an issue for me as I was away during the day, but I imagine it could be for other people). There was only one small lift for customers, which would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. Staff were kind and courteous. Location was great. However, I don’t think I would stay there in the future, as in my opinion there are better hotels in the area.

From the moment we entered hotel we loved the decor. Reception was lovely and welcoming Room was very modern and the large bed was so comfortable, room was bright and plenty space,great shower and tea coffee snack highly recommended

Overall not a bad place. Definitely needs some work. Room was dirty and falling apart “even tho it was supposed to be refurbished” but the staff was quite pleasant and very helpful. Beds were very comfortable and if I needed anything they were on it right away. I’d definitely stay here again. I was honest with them when I brought the issues up with them and they didn’t get defensive.. they listened and apologized. With paying attention to a few things this could be a 5 star hotel. It’s a 3 star but the staff was so awesome I’ll give a 4 star. I already miss Oban and the staff at the Muthu regional hotel! Thank you very much for having me!!

The room was tricky to get into due to position of bed, but once in it was comfortable and had everything you need. Housekeeping staff provided with with an iron very promptly and all staff were very nice. Decor is to a nice standard and having a sea view was bliss. Breakfast was rather yummy and very good value for money. Iussed seeing some fruit and it would have been nice to have the coffee in a cafeteria

Comfortable stay in small single room with super view of the harbour and islands . Service excellent. Good value for the area . Outside of hotel is not appealing but inside has been refurbished.

Such a cheap renovation... Looks like 60 minute makeover has been in place

Superb hotel with great front of house staff. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and modern. Meal choices and food quality was fantastic; Andy and Precious were brilliant and very friendly staff members. I would definitely stay here again.

Supposed to be sea veiw,room looked out over roof,Double bed was two singles pushed together. beds put together.

Room was lovely spacious and very modern, shower was modern and excellent

Arrived 2 1/2 hrs early and told we had an upgrade, which was nice as it had a sea view, however the room wasn't ready yet, so asked to come back at check-in time. When we got to our room, the bathroom floor didn't look clean, my wife wiped it and it was dirty, dusty and lots of hair, there was also flecks of paper on the bedroom floor. I took the sample down to reception, they were very apologetic and gave us a further upgrade stating there had been a breakdown in communication with housekeeping. The final room was better, great views, warm, comfortable bed, warm shower. Overall the staff were pleasant and apologetic, however a checklist for Housekeeping might be beneficial. The is limited parking, however you can park at their sister hotel the Alexandra. We helped a disabled couple up the stairs with their luggage as the access is not at ground level, so i would check external accessibility.

Few cleanliness issues, also bathroom looked like it still needed work but the friendliness and efficiency of the staff made up for this

Great property, centrally located. I had a small single room on the fourth floor but very comfortable with a stunning view of Oban and the bay.

Stay was great, the hotel has done a great job of the refurb and our room was lovely, bathroom was great as well. Only off putting thing was the light in our room flickered constantly but the light of the telly light the room. The room was also very cold and the heating took a long time to heat the room up

Old fashioned yet refurbished. Has echoes of elegance. Great food, great service, great ambiance. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Olde worlde charm.

A superb check in experience by the South African lady on reception...wish I knew her name.Lovely welcome. Yes the room was a little tired but it was comfortable and had a great sea view.Breakfast could have been a bit warmer but given the price paid I think the whole experience was fine for a one night stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay but would probably book a bigger room next time. Great service and lovely atmosphere.

Very near to the train station and has good restaurants near by. Also has good views from the rooms.
