It was a great experience! Lovely hotel. It's like you turn back to olden times. I like the structure and the interior elements. It's the old Saigon. The staff are very helpful and they are very accommodating. The hotel is just in front of the Saigon Plaza. I love the whole set up. I got chocolate from the staff also at night. Lovely hotel! My business trip was amazing with that hotel! I can work and at the same time enjoy the view.

The room is always very clean. You can't beat the breakfast buffet great variety and very fresh. The staff is great and always extremely friendly. Made up my room several times in one day. Have stayed at many different hotels in Saigon always end up back at the Rex. Hotel is located right in the middle of district 12. Within walking distance to just about every attraction. On the square next to the Capitol building always a fun place to walk around at night. Highly recommend the Rex hard to beat the price. Exceptional value. Can always come early and drop off your luggage and check in later. Very safe and secure. Swimming pool is always very clean and never crowded. Always quiet. The rooftop bar is spacious for the great view looking down at the square. Hotel has historical significance which is very interesting to me. Great all around place to stay especially if you are a first-time visitor everyone knows where the Rex is. Close to all the great shopping areas in district 1. If you don't want to walk cab rides (grab) are easily accessible from the Rex and cheap. If you're looking for an adventure take a grab scooter. Don't be surprised when your ride is less than a dollar USD.

Terrible stay. We booked two rooms for three nights and ended up leaving a night early. The first pair of rooms we had smelled of stale old cigarette smoke and then after asking to move into rooms that had not been smoked in weeks were placed right below (for one room) and right next to (for the other) the bar which has a live band each night until 10.30pm. With two young children neither of these issues were acceptable, particularly after already having to move rooms once. After two nights of terrible sleep we decided to check out early. At this point the Assistant Manager did offer to move us again to what were apparently quieter rooms but by this point we had had enough. We had already seen 4 rooms in total and were not impressed. This hotel trades on its history and location only and is no longer a five star hotel. Stay elsewhere for better value.

Excellent location. Frienfly staff. Decent breakfast buffet and great drinks and excellent rooftop live music entertainment. The hotel rate is overpriced for its style and condition: only the rooms are air-conditioned, not the hallways, making going in and out of the room very uncomfortable because of the temperature difference between the cool room and the outside heat. Lastly, the room window faces the hallway meaning for any privacy one has to close the blinds all day and night making the room quite claustrophobic.

We stayed here three times during our 16-day trip — that alone tells you what you need to know. Breakfast is genuinely impressive: pho, bánh mì, made-to-order omelettes, French pastries, Chinese rice porridge, fresh fruit, and Vietnamese coffee — all done well. Staff are professional, warm, and actually helpful. Rooms are clean and quiet, which is no small feat given the location — right in the center of District 1, walking distance to Saigon Square and Bến Thành Market. Highly recommend.”
