Hotel Bedford

Beautiful stay. Close to everything.

We enjoyed our staff at Hotel Bedford. We enjoyed the ambiance, and cleanliness of the hotel. The shower was great with lots of pressure and the beds were quite comfortable. The location is perfect and within walking distance of everything. We basically parked our car and walked everywhere. The pub is great with reasonable prices and a nice selection on the menu.

Booked a king room. Room was tiny, smelt bad and had old dirty carpet. No fire safety plan posted in room. Tv did not work, no bedside table, no alarm clock, no chair, no coffee maker, no microwave. Fairly certain black mold ceiling in bathroom. Curtains broken.

Great place to stay in central downtown Goderich! Excellent location within walking distance to the local museums and restaurants. Clean room with TV, microwave, and queen bed. A little snug, but perfect for a one night stay. We had dinner at the restaurant underneath, and the staff were all friendly and attentive. Food was decent, and the drinks were good. Will stay here again if back in Goderich!

Parking was great ! good location but it's an old hotel and our room had a few things that were not up to standards but it was in my budget for my short visit.

The location was excellent, right in downtown and close to everything. The building itself was historic and beautiful. However, the cleanliness was disappointing and did not meet my expectations. With better cleaning and maintenance, this place could be amazing.

The issue I have is- I booked 3 rooms and selected pay at property. Through Expedia the people we were travelling with were going to pay at the hotel. We have done this many times before. The morning of check in, my card that was used to reserve the rooms was charged fully for all three rooms. When we arrived we had to pick up our keys at the bar. There was no one there to check us in. This was at 3:30 pm. The next morning when the woman was there at the desk I questioned her on it…she told us that is the way they do it, so if we don’t check in she won’t be out any money. I have never heard of such a thing. She argued saying that it’s always been this way. She was rude and lied about a continental breakfast, she told us they haven’t had one for over a year. However one of the people working in the bar said they do offer it during the summer months. I could not believe how rude she was, also my friend went downstairs in the morning and when she saw her behind the desk she said “Good morning” the woman scowled at her and turned and walked away. So rude! Absolutely no customer service! I realized later that she charged my card for all the rooms because she wasn’t there to check us in and that was easier for her than to do her job and check us in properly. She is only there for a couple of hours in the morning then when check in starts at 3pm no one is there. If you have any issues there is no one ask. That makes no sense. Some one should be there for checking in.

This ancient hotel has long seen its better days. Its carpets are old, no elevator on establishment, door closed after certain hour and nobody picks up the phone to respond to need to replace stained blankets. I am amazed such a 3 star hotel exists in Canada and there is no inspection by the town of Goderich. It barely deserves one star. We would definitely not come back

Great spot. Restaurant on first floor of hotel was very convenient. Quiet, clean and affordable

Quiet (it is off season) with a good location in the charming main square and a short lovely walk to the lakefront, boardwalk and beach. A little worse for wear, but It was a very clean room, bathroom and very comfortable bed with nice linens. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room, but no coffee maker. This was especially egregious given there was no morning coffee service in the lobby or any open cafes or restaurants immediately close by. (But there is a lovely local cafe on the other side of the square). There is no elevator, so one needs to be fit enough to climb a fairly long staircase with a bag. It isn't the Hilton, but at a $100 including tax it was clean, safe and adequate accomodation and good value for this senior solo traveller. If on a tight budget and you like walking it is a good choice for one night. Bring your own mug, creamer, instant coffee and microwaveable dinner and avoid the pub food next door.

Our room was not very clean - stained sheets, dirty floors. Front desk was not staffed through the evening. Parking was good, no problem at this time of year.

We liked the character of the building, the beds were comfortable and the room suited our basic needs.

The parking was good. The pub was good. I'm not happy about the bug bites I received on my arms and face. The room was clean but curtain hem was falling down. Tile floor in bathroom stuck to my foot when I was barefoot. I just left rather than complain about the bites. But they need to check that out.

Yes. Free easy parking. Bar was great. Food good. Only complaint is no in room coffee and continental breakfast was to open at 9am and never did open. Great restaurant to walk to nearby for breakfast called Steve And Mary's

We enjoyed staying here! It is a good price and the staff were friendly. Location was perfect. I do wish there had of been the advertised continental breakfast as it meant we spent more on food on our trip than anticipated But overall had a great time
