Located convenientlly for Chester city centre, close to the Eastgate wall. Not too far from either the railway station or bus terminal if travelling by public transport. Stayed over bank holiday weekend for a wedding at the Town Hall with the reception away from the city. If have large or heavy luggage, there are some steps into the hotel. I offered to assist one guest who was leaving whilst I was waiting to check in. Property could do with some care & attention with flacking paint. The shelf above the room toilet had marks/peeled paint. Didn’t look like the room windows had been cleaned for a while, & anyway are closed shut. Did not use the catering facilities.

A nice long wknd break in Chester. Staff were friendly. Loved the water dispenser in corridor. Hotel’s location was perfect. The rooms are a nice size with a large bed. Felt comfortable during our stay. Occasional noise from other guests returning to their rooms in early hours of morning; but that happens. Seal on the shower door had come away and so water poured onto bathroom floor during shower & the shower controller was coming away from the wall, which lent to the feeling the rooms were a little tired in places. This didn’t impact our stay and would happily book again.

A very nice room which could probably do with an update. Very comfortable bed. Quite noisy in the evenings with comings and goings from the pub next door, but not too bad. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Last minute trip so I can't complain about the price however, this is a very below average hotel. Needs some good TLC. Bathroom was usable but very run down and unserviced. Room was very hot overnight with windows that open around 20cm (however fans provided but no plugs next to the bed). We had dead wildlife hanging on the bird net outside our window on the 2nd floor. Overall it was a bed for the night but we won't be returning here anytime soon. Avoid for the time being and spring for The Grosvenor.

Do not stay here. Everything that could be bad was. The heating was on maximum in the room which we couldn't control, maybe 30c in there when we arrived? The air con did not work and the window would not open. The wallpaper was coming off the walls and ceiling and the bathroom paint was peeling all over the ceiling. There was also rust and mould everywhere in the bathroom. I did ask for assistance at reception but they just said the air con was broken. I asked for a fan but it didn't arrive before we decided we could not spend the night there and sought alternative accommodation for the night. This hotel needs urgent refurbishment before it should be open to the public.

Room was ok. Bed was two beds together so you kept falling down the gap in the middle. Needed a thick mattress topper that covers both beds so you couldn’t go down the gap. The hotel was a little tired inside with doors needing painting as it made the experience feel cheap. Staff were polite and helpful. Room was big but tv only had shopping channels so couldn’t watch anything. The room was also on the high street so all night we heard shouting and commotion so didn’t get much sleep.
