Property was excellent value for money, a short walk outside York city centre. Room was more than adequate, clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was full English with possibly the largest piece of black pudding I've seen. The bar is well stocked and we ate there on our first night, food was good and reasonably priced. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Light Horseman and it will be top of our list for our next stop in the city.

The room we stayed in wasn’t nice at all. The bathroom smelt like drains, the shower kept going cold, the sealant was missing and mouldy, there was a big rumbling noise every time you turned a tap on or flushed the toilet. The rest of the room was a mess the carpet had big brown stains everywhere like something had been spilt and just left to dry. Coffee and tea stains all over the counter and you have to really slam the door to close it. All in all it was just GRIM!

The Lighthorseman accommodation is a very handy short walk into the city. The room itself was clean and functional. The main road outside had almost constant traffic until late and started early, I think ear plugs being provided may be a good idea. I did not take advantage of the optional breakfast

This feels like a pub with "regulars", so it has personality. The menu is fairly pub standard, but the meal I had was done well. There's a pleasant garden and the riverside is just a short walk away. The room was a comfortable size, the radiator and bathroom towel rail were heat adjustable, everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There were a couple of minor issues; I reported on leaving and the manager said he'd address them and they'd probably have moved me if I'd raised them earlier. The location is convenient: an easy walk into town, via streets or riverside as you prefer, but not so central as to be noisy. And parking on site, which becomes rare a couple of blocks further into town.

Breakfast is not to be missed. Cooked to order and a bargain at £12.50. The produce used is top class. The bar and dining room are very nice. Just what you'd expect from a pub/hotel. Staff were excellent and the rooms spotless. The rooms are typical of an old building. Practical and very clean. The odd paint scuff but expected in this style of property. So near the city crntre with free parking this property is an absolute bargain. Great value for money. Highly recommended

The room was nothing like the pictures advertised. Very tiny twin room with bed right beside the door. Very old mattress and flat thin pillows. Only lukewarm water in the shower and toilet was extremely noisy for 5 minutes each time it was flushed. Reception is a combination of bartender, waitress and reception.

Loved the history of this pub. Very clean room, comfortable bed and breakfast was great. Would definitely recommend this place if you're visiting York as close to the river walk and not that far for all the major attractions. Plus, free onsite parking which is very hard to find in York.

Stayed 2 nights, everything you need, clean well stocked rooms. Landlord Dan explained everything & was happy to answer any questions. Short walk into York Centre either straight up the road or via the Canal 10-15 min stroll. As noted everything you need clean & well prepared rooms & good selection of beers in the bar with sky sports to watch the football. For me & the wife perfect stay.
