What Guests Say About Their Stay

The hotel was super clean, the room was excellent and always well kept. Front desk staff were super friendly and helpful and also suggested some great restaurants in the city. Staff even brought us a mini fridge to our room free of charge. They also even have hotel dogs that you can pet while they're working :)

I chose the hotel because my mom and I stayed there one week back in 201X, she passed away in 2025 so I chose the property solely for that reason. The hotel itself is lovely, blend of high end shops, trendy restaurant, friendly staff, and just hint of a maze. The room itself was large and spacious, clean, and had all the amenities you would expect. The location is perfect: short walks to harbour air, Macs (circle K), transit, taxis, and the skyway is right out the door or less than a block away. If you are here to visit, the Vancouver art gallery is right next door and you are surrounded by shopping! You are spoiled for your chose of restaurants and cuisine types all within easy walking distance. I do not have only positive things to say as the view from 902 wasn't spectacular, and if it were not for the familiar reasons I would not have paid $671. There were nicer, less expensive, or better situated hotels to choose from. There is also this trend to remove bathtubs. On occasions, I do like a good soak. Overall excellent, but pricy.

Our room was ready hours before check-in, which was greatly appreciated. The room was on the 5th floor and was in a decent (albeit tired) condition. The floors were clean, but there was dust in the bathroom and main bedroom, and crumbs/dried food from a previous guest near the armchair. The air con did not work, but we were lucky that the window opened and let in some breeze. We ordered room service three times during our stay, twice for dinner and once for breakfast. Between our first and second nights, the menu changed; the reception sent up a "new" menu that was exactly the same as the one in our room. Ordering food was not a seamless experience. Breakfast was ordered for a 6.15am arrival, and we were called at 5.30am to be told that the omelettes were no longer available as they were not on the new menu. Receiving a call at 5.30am to be told that an item with three ingredients is no longer available could have been avoided if the hotel used consistent menus. Is the Fairmont an aesthetically beautiful hotel? Yes. Are the finishes and tech outdated? Absolutely. Are the staff helpful and kind? Sort of. Would I stay again? No.

We, a family of three, wanted a relaxed overnight stay in Vancouver. Unfortunately, it requires more than one night to adapt to this hotel's eccentric room amenities. Our child immediately grabbed the sensor activated candy, $12 for some gummy bears, that we were told would be refunded, and wasn't. The fridge was completely loaded with sales items and unusable. You have to order another fridge apparently. No kettle, and it took over an hour to get one by seemingly confused staff (insisting there was already a kettle in the room). And a coffee maker that is as loud as a jack hammer, waking up my wife and kid. So the first night in this hotel is a mildly stressful exercise. Next hotel I'll phone ahead and quiz them on the amenities.

he Fairmont Vancouver is one of those hotels that is old in the way expensive hotels like to call “classic.” To be fair, inside it is actually well kept. The room was good, remodeled, and overall pretty much what you would expect: an older hotel on the outside, but in solid shape on the inside. The location is excellent, and the staff were very nice across the board. But honestly, for me, the whole experience got ruined by one thing: you cannot really control the room temperature. They told me that “in winter” the system only heats, and in summer it only cools. That might sound logical to someone managing the building from 1964, except we are in April, it was quite warm, and the room was stuck at 24°C. So the room did not need heating at all, yet cooling was not available because apparently the calendar matters more than the actual temperature. Their solution was to open the window about 15 cm. That solves nothing. First, it is not enough to cool the room properly. Second, once you open it, you get street noise, cars, sirens, and everything else you would prefer not to hear when staying at a hotel in this price range. So yes, the hotel is nice, the staff are kind, and the location is excellent. But if a hotel at this level cannot offer a basic comfortable sleeping temperature, that is a serious failure. Maybe this would be acceptable at a 2- or 3-star hotel. At this level, and for this price, it really is not. I would not go back for that reason alone.
