George Hotel

room nicely appointed and up to date classic modern in my view, bed comfy super clean lots of extras in the room beverages tissues hairdryer, iron, ironing board, etc. nicely priced bar and food with seating areas having plenty of room, no available parking which was disappointing; breakfast full of variety. staff very friendly and assistive.

The car park is tiny but very secure.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was good. We parked in the Cattle Market in Frome which was reasonably close.

We arrived around 6pm and was told that the Car park was full (only 13 spaces) and we had to park in a public car park around the corner of the hotel which was free parking overnight until 9am. The bar and restaurant area was very pleasant and received a nice welcome from the bar staff, once we had our key (No6) we made our way to our room, this was a bit challenging as it meant walking up stairs as there was no lift being an old building, I sure we climbed around 40 steps going up/down and through the corridors to our room which as I have said before because we are both nearly 70 years of age. The room we quite large and at first glance looked ok but we soon notice that it needed a good like of paint, there was paint coming off the bathroom door and cracks in some of the walls, my wife tried to close the blinds but could not get them to work because of the amount of stairs we only went downstairs the once, The bed we found too hard and had little sleep. in the morning we went down stairs for breakfast and took our luggage with us as there was no way we could climb those stairs again, for breakfast we had a full English which was fine and again the staff were nice and helpful. to sum up the hotel is fine for a younger person of family but challenging for elderly people, please don't be put off by our comments as other people would find this hotel ok, this is just based on our experence.

Parking was a bit tricky to get in underneath to park n. but very secure. The hotel staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble for then. Because of our age we found the stairs a big challenge so probably would not return

Parking is secure, but a little tight to gain access if you have an extra large car, the building is lovely very oldy worldy feel, staff are lovely friendly & helpful, food, good choice & breakfast was lovely, only complaint it could have all been hotter. but would stay here again.

Great position in the town of Frome with all amenities. Room cleaned daily, what really makes this hotel is the staff, who are absolutely fantastic, professional, polite, and friendly, cannot fault the service they provide. Breakfast is excellent, best poached eggs I have ever had, I also had the lamb, which was excellent, and the haddock, service was quick and food was hot and delicious. The price of our double room was so reasonable, also has private underground parking. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be staying here again. Thank you

Enjoyed our 2 night stay staff were very polite and professional. Food was good and room was clean and comfortable would stay again.

Very relaxing place to stay Staff were particularly friendly and helpful Huge bed in our room but definitely needs a mattress topper (room 27) Room needs decorating and updating but think they have started on rooms But still a nice place for our overnight stay

An enjoyable stay in a clean and maintained room (renovations are underway in some public areas and some rooms having total renovation) Breakfast excellent and served quickly via friendly team, hotel busy but everything smoothly supplied. Good nights rest and useful the secure parking for a town centre location

Parking was easy and secure not something you find that often so yes good. Staff was super happy,bar was great and well stocked being a pub owner myself it was lovely to see , definitely coming back

It's a lovely old hotel BUT... There's no lift and for me, age 77, the 50 stairs up to my room, and back down, were not easy to manage. The hotel, as at April 2026, is undergoing some renovation which made things more awkward and left a lot of mess and dirt around. There was no help to get suitcases upstairs. Having said that the staff were all lovely people and breakfast was good. The car park is useful but a bit of distance from the hotel and up a hill to get out of the car park and down again to the hotel. Rooms are somewhat noisy in the day and evening although Frome does get quiet after 11pm in the week. A bit later on Friday evening!

First the pros. The staff are wonderful!! Super helpful and friendly. The breakfast was also amazing! Good selections and tastes delicious! The restaurant area is nicely decorated and modern. There’s a good selection of toiletries and we had a nice large room with high ceilings. Now the cons. The parking garage is very tight and the other option is a paid lot down the street, just not very convenient. The bed and pillows were so hard and the walls are thin. Didn’t sleep well but I’m also a light sleeper. Generally a dated look upstairs. You also need to check into your room at the bar and carry your luggage through the restaurant. No elevator. It did seem like they were doing some renovations though and going by what the restaurant looks like it’ll be lovely! I did feel the good outweighs the bad though and I’d stay again. I’ll just bring my own pillow next time!
