What Guests Say About Their Stay

The Hex Hotel is a Basic hotel on the luxury side. What I mean is there are no frills but it is a great place to stay particular when visiting the Yorkshire Wildlife park. It makes the stay very pleasant being able to relax after your visit or before your visit to the park. Two nights is ideal visiting the YWP in the middle. If you are a YWP member you can visit for a short while on all days. I really like the hotel and always stay here when travelling to the YWP. It is clean and spacious with friendly staff. The breakfast is wonderful with everything you could want, The eggs this time were a little like bullets but it may have been just my timing I guess not everyone likes a runny egg. Air conditioning in the rooms is a plus when hot such as at the current time.

The room was very warm overnight. But it was overlooking the Bush Dogs who are so cute (follow my leader!). First time staying in a room (and note a suite), but to be honest the only difference was it just had a shower and not a bath. I will be back.

We had a great one night stay at the Hex hotel before visiting the zoo. The hotel was immaculate and the rooms were well thought out for families.

A lovely place but unfortunately let down by rude staff, bad room placement and broken air conditioning. There was a wedding taken place and the music went on into the night, between this and the broken air conditioning, our young baby was disturbed through the night. We contacted Gary the nightporter who was helpful and explained they knew it was an issue and to raise it with management the following day. We contacted management by email in the end as no one was available the following day. I was contacted by Vicky, who did offer a tokenistic 20% off on future bookings but implied I had lied about all issues and failed to respond when I queried her approach. Really disappointing, at over £200 a night - we got no sleep and our baby really didn’t enjoy the next day owing to his discomfort in the night. A real shame that it could have been resolved so easily with effective customer service and a kind manner.

Great Hotel and Location - would defo recommend for convenience to visit the wildlife park. Room was clean and tidy, breakfast the next morning was also great and plenty of choice. I did get a discount using my Hotels.com Cashback but I think the full price I paid was approx £125 including breakfast so great value.

The air con wasn’t working on our first three nights but the last night (also the warmest night) it thankfully was fixed. It was much needed in the evening when the sun moves round. The room was a good size and equipped with everything - kettle, good selection of hot drinks, hairdryer , iron and board, fridge and mini toiletries. The cleaning was done to a good standard. Our room overlooked the park, we saw the Lar Gibbons, Tapirs, Maned Wolves and Bush dogs at all times during the day. It was very special and a wonderful sight to wake up to. Breakfast was delicious, a good choice at the buffet - fruit cereals, toast, crumpets, cooked breakfast and cold and hot drinks. The staff were excellent, they were always polite and helpful, very friendly and welcoming!

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, loved that there is an ice machine on each floor... only issue being that there is nothing to put the ice in to take it to your room. The room itself we likes alot it was very spacious and modern, the ac wasnt great as it wouldn't let you put the room temp below 19 degrees so didnt really do much. We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast... the main issue we had with this hotel is the distance from the car park to the entrance, it is way too far especially as my husband is in a wheelchair so took more than one trip just to get him and then all the luggage up to the room.

On entry of the Hex Hotel the car park is a short distance from the hotel entrance, there is no drop off point immediately outside the reception area, eg - if it was raining your items would be quite if not not entirely soaked. My advice is to park up first, sign in at the Hotel Reception and then collect a porters trolley for your luggage from the reception area. However if you are able to carry all your items in one go then great. Staff are friendly, polite and inform you are all the important notices to make your stay pleasing. Our room was a double, parkside, which was so nice to wake upto, it was clean, had all the ammenties required for your stay and I am very particular. However, if you are used to soft towels, please bring your own, these are very rough, in our eyesand the shower is fantastic. On our last night we had an issue with the safe, the number did not work, it continually kept asking for an ecode, at this point we contacted reception and someone came immediately to sort this out. They elementated all possiblities and unfortunately was not able to resolve this, due to be a fault on the safe, so there was 2 options - 1. remain in the room, as we were checking out the following morning, or 2. relocate to another room, but it was nice that the option was available and very apologetic. Excellent stay and would highly recommend.

Car park is quite a distance away. Then reception isn’t with the hotel, I was distracted and tired and missed the reception as I saw the hotel first, headed to that, couldn’t get in and then asked in the bar Reyes Pinter me back to the hotel entrance, it wasn’t u til some other guests arrived that they Pinter out the reception back towards the car park. Annoying when it’s raining as they are not next to each other. This needs to be made clearer. Room was ok, a little more than a travelodge if I’m honest.room was actually cold, with solid floors and was woken up by people walking around in the room above. Who needs to be walking around from 2-5am!!! Breakfast was ok, told to sit anywhere, yet the tables weren’t made up, no cutlery or condiments, all other tables had dirty plates and hadn’t been wiped clean. Would I stay there again? Maybe if little or nothing else was available, I go somewhere else if in the area.
