Mitake Shosenkyo is a gorge located in the northern part of Kofu City. Designated as a national special scenic spot, it's renowned as "Japan's Most Beautiful Gorge." The stunning landscape of cliffs and peculiar rocks becomes even more magnificent with the backdrop of autumn foliage, creating a splendid and breathtaking view. Due to the significant difference in altitude, the fall foliage season lasts from mid-October to late November. Over the course of more than a month, many visitors flock to this area to stroll along the approximately 4-kilometer-long walking trail through the gorge and admire the stunning maple leaf scenery.
Built on the site where the Takeda clan resided for three generations, the "Takeda Shrine" offers a chance to appreciate the autumn foliage immersed in historical charm. This shrine is dedicated to the renowned Takeda Shingen, a famous warlord from Kai Province. Established in 1919 (Taisho 8), it is located at the former site of Tsutsujigasaki Castle (residence of the Takeda clan), where lords Nobutora, Shingen, and Katsuyori of the Takeda clan ruled for over 60 years. Within its grounds, remnants of the past such as moats, earthen embankments, stone walls, and an ancient well can still be found. The autumn foliage within the shrine's premises is also a renowned local attraction.
Come and enjoy the iconic fruit of the "Kingdom of Fruits," Yamanashi Prefecture, the famous Koshu grape. With a firm and satisfying texture and a sweet yet not overwhelming taste, these grapes are sure to delight all connoisseurs of fine fruit!
