Suez is a port city in northeastern Egypt on the Red Sea's Gulf of Suez north coast. It's the capital of the Suez Governorate and is located near the Suez Canal's southern end. Suez is a naval and trade hub, and is connected to Cairo by rail and road. The city has three ports: al-Adabiya, al-Zaytiya, and Suez Port, and also has extensive port facilities. Suez's name comes from a Levantine Arabic word that means liquorice, sūs in Arabic.
Suez has a range of attractions, offering visitors a blend of historical landmarks and natural wonders.
