Step into Kafe Kleptokrat and you'll feel like you've found a little piece of old KL.

The cafe sits inside a 100-year-old shophouse along Jalan Tun H.S. Lee. Its centrepiece is a small courtyard pool surrounded by tables. The mix of old architecture, greenery, and water gives the space a relaxed, almost colonial feel.

It's more than just a coffee spot, too. Kafe Kleptokrat serves Malay-inspired dishes such as nasi lemak and rendang toast. Coffee and ice cream are also available if you're just stopping by for a quick break.

The location is another plus. It's only about a two-minute walk from Masjid Jamek LRT and MRT station. You can easily fit it into a day around Chinatown or the Merdeka area.

PULP has been part of Bangsar's coffee scene since 2014. And it remains a favourite for those who take their coffee seriously.

The cafe occupies a former paper-cutting factory behind the old NSTP building. Its industrial character is still very much part of the experience.

Coffee is the main attraction here. You can expect rotating single-origin pour-overs, espresso, and bottled cold brew to take home.

There are also pastries and light meals if you want to stay longer. The avocado open sandwich is a popular option for a simple bite.

VCR is one of KL's best-known cafe names. The original outlet on Jalan Galloway is still worth visiting, especially if you enjoy cafes with plenty of character.

The cafe is housed in a 1927 double-storey link house near the former Pudu Jail. The lower floor has a darker, more intimate feel. Upstairs, you'll find rattan furniture and a brighter setting that's great for brunch.

Coffee and cake are easy choices here. If you're hungry, try the Saigon stack sandwich or truffle scrambled gravlax.

VCR has since expanded to Bangsar and Mont Kiara. But the original outlet remains a favourite for its distinctive setting.

Feeka Coffee Roasters is a good place to take a break. The cafe sits inside a converted townhouse just off Changkat Bukit Bintang.

The space is bright and comfortable, with a mix of sofas and tables. It's also popular with people who want to work over coffee.

The food menu covers everything from breakfast bowls to lamb shakshuka. There is also a good selection of coffee to choose from.

Save some room for dessert. The mille crepe cake is a popular pick.

If you like clean, minimalist interiors, SWÔL is an easy one to add to your cafe list.

Located in Bangsar, the cafe has an almost entirely white interior. Large windows bring in plenty of natural light, while its rounded, boulder-like seats add a playful touch.

It's definitely a photogenic spot. But there's more than just the interior.

SWÔL serves French pastries such as croissants, pain au chocolat, and macarons flown in from France. You can also find cheesecake, coffee, and matcha on the menu.

Want a cafe surrounded by greenery? Head to Jibby by the Park.

This glasshouse-style cafe overlooks the lake in Desa ParkCity. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in plenty of natural light, while wooden details give the space a warm feel.

It's a nice change from KL's usual concrete-and-shophouse cafe settings.

The menu is fully halal-certified. For something sweet, the Berry Pavlova and Very Berry Waffle are popular choices.

Kopenhagen Coffee brings a little Danish cafe culture to Mont Kiara.

The cafe takes inspiration from the Danish concept of hygge, with a calm and comfortable setting that's easy to settle into. There's also plenty of greenery around the space.

Coffee is a big part of the experience. The cafe serves light to medium roasts, with the Nørrebro blend being a popular choice for home brewing.

Feeling hungry? Try one of their open-faced Danish sandwiches, also known as smørrebrød.

Kopenhagen Coffee also has another cafe and roastery in Bangsar.

103 Coffee started in Sri Petaling back in 2014. Since then, it has grown into a familiar name among KL's specialty coffee crowd.

The brand now has its own roastery and several outlets around the city, including Chow Kit, APW Bangsar, and Desa ParkCity.

Its drinks menu goes beyond the usual coffee choices. You might find cold brew with honey and yuzu, topped with oat milk foam.

The food is just as interesting. expect dishes such as udon, chicken chop, and unagi pizza. It's a fun mix of Japanese and Malaysian influences.

Originally from Singapore, Common Man Coffee Roasters has found a comfortable home in TTDI.

It's a reliable choice when you want good coffee with a proper meal. The cafe serves all-day brunch, so there's no need to rush in early.

Coffee lovers can choose from beans with different flavour profiles, from fruity to chocolatey. The brand also puts a strong focus on sustainable sourcing.

The food menu is generous, too. Think smash burgers, French toast, and other hearty brunch options.

If you're always looking for the next cool cafe in KL, put Curiosite on your radar.

Located in Kampung Attap, this relatively new spot has a laid-back look. The unpolished walls and unusual furniture give it a more personal feel than your typical polished cafe.

Curiosite is both a cafe and restaurant. So you can come here for coffee, hojicha, or a proper bite.

Try the shio pan if you're after something light. For something more filling, the satay wings with sambal mangga are worth ordering.
