However, Kota Tinggi Waterfall remains closed to the public. The site has been shut since 2019 following severe flooding and water surges. So, here's what to know about the waterfall, its closure, and how to plan a Kota Tinggi getaway in the meantime.

Kota Tinggi Waterfall is at KM16, Jalan Lombong, 81900 Kota Tinggi, Johor, approximately 16 km from Kota Tinggi town and around 56 km from Johor Bahru.

Kota Tinggi itself is a district in Johor, while Johor Bahru is the state capital. This makes Kota Tinggi a convenient option for travellers based in Johor Bahru who want to explore more of Johor beyond the city.

Kota Tinggi Waterfall remains closed to the public. The closure dates back to 2019, 2022, and 2023 when severe flooding and water surges raised safety concerns around the site.

In November 2024, the Johor government said the attraction would remain closed while authorities assessed its safety, infrastructure and flood-related risks. Plans to reopen the waterfall were being considered, but no confirmed reopening date was announced.
