Lepoh Waterfall isn't the kind of waterfall you simply drive up to, take a few photos, and leave. Reaching it means taking on a roughly 7.2-kilometre return hike through plantation paths, bamboo groves and rainforest before arriving at clear pools and a multi-tiered waterfall.
The trail takes around three to three and a half hours to complete and includes steep sections and slippery, moss-covered rocks. But the effort comes with a good payoff. Besides the waterfall and natural pools, Lepoh is also known for its natural rock slide. Here's what to know before taking on the hike.
Lepoh Waterfall, also known as Sungai Lepoh or Sungai Lepok, is a nature attraction in Hulu Langat, Selangor, not far from Kuala Lumpur. Its forest setting and challenging trail make it a popular spot for hiking, swimming and camping. Tourism Selangor describes the route as around 7 kilometres of moderately difficult hiking.
What makes the trip worthwhile is the combination of the hike and what awaits at the end. You'll pass through changing landscapes before reaching the multi-tiered waterfall, clear natural pools and the smooth rock formation that visitors use as a natural slide.
Quick facts:
It's worth treating this as a proper half-day hike rather than a casual walk to a waterfall.

If you're driving from Kuala Lumpur, your navigation to Asli Adventure Camp. Several hiking guides recommend using the camp as the GPS reference because searching directly for Lepoh Waterfall can lead to the wrong location. From there, continue to the end of the road, where you'll find the trail entrance.
Parking is available near the trailhead, with fees collected locally. Recent hiking information puts the parking fee at around RM5–RM10 per vehicle, although the amount can vary.
Driving is also the most convenient option if you're carrying hiking gear and planning to return to Kuala Lumpur after the trek. If you don't have a car, you can consider renting a car through Traveloka so you have more flexibility with your departure and return times.
A forestry permit is required to enter the area, so arrange the necessary permit before your hike rather than assuming you can simply turn up and start walking.
Start your hike early in the morning. A morning start gives you plenty of daylight to complete the roughly three-hour return journey and leaves more room for breaks at the waterfall.
Weather is another important consideration. Rain can make the forest trail and moss-covered rocks slippery, while wet conditions can make river and rocky sections more challenging. An early start also helps you avoid the heavier afternoon showers that can occur in the area.
Before setting off, check the weather forecast and be prepared to postpone the hike if conditions look unsafe. A waterfall trail is not the place to push ahead simply because you've already made the drive.
Lepoh is manageable with preparation, but the trail shouldn't be underestimated. Keep these tips in mind:
