The place is dated and very overpriced, there most be better options.

Pousada do Ouro was excellent! The staff were friendly and helpful, the property was charming and clean, and the surrounding area was interesting. It has two great beaches within walking distance. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paraty and hope to return one day.

This was a charming choice for our friends trip to Paraty! The staff were friendly and helpful, with lots of suggestions for restaurants and activities. The common spaces were gorgeous and welcoming. The pool and sauna were lovely. Breakfast was healthy and fresh. The rooms were smaller but plenty of space for two girls and their luggage. The beds were slightly smaller than their American versions (we had two twin beds and they were narrow) but comfy and clean. AC worked great. We checked out at noon, but did not have our transfer picking us up until 4 PM and the hotel graciously let us continue to have access to the pool and the sauna which had showers so that we could be fresh for our flight.

It was a charming hotel, an authentic historical masterpiece- the staff was exceptional & our stay was lovely. We traveled plenty, and this was an excellent stay.

What a wonderful experience in such a lovely corner of Brazil. The experience was amazing from the beginning; the receptionist welcomed us with a friendly smile and made us feel at home immediately. The property was so charming; it has been updated while respecting the original style and architecture. The room was very spacious and comfortable with an amazing street view of Paraty. We throughly enjoyed walking the streets to explore so many historic buildings in town. Also the hotel is nearby many restaurants and shops while still being on a quiet street without the traffic and noise. We definitely would recommend staying here for a relaxing vacation to Paraty.

Pousada do Ouro was quite possibly the nicest stay I’ve had any hotel. As a foreigner I sincerely appreciated the fact that the staff spoke English and communicated through email immediately upon booking. The trip was a birthday celebration which was magical thanks to the staff. They were friendly, efficient and allowed our party of 9 to check in army after our 4 hour drive from Rio. The hotel itself was beautiful. All the modern conveniences in a historic building. Every where I turned there was some beauty to appreciate. The location in the historic district made it so easy to wander the cobblestone streets with shopping, sites and restaurants minutes away! The staff also arranged for a private boat trip which was perfect. If you go to Paraty don’t stay anywhere else!

Lovely hotel in a lovely town. Staff was extremely helpful an fluent in English… even some French. The anti mosquito plug and liquid were provided Nice sitting area and bar, excellent breakfast. Amazing pool area. Quite a few famous guests seam to have been there. We would definitely come back if we’re in the area again.

A very nice property in the old town. Almost every detail takes you back to the history of Paraty. Quite an authentic stay, really enjoyed it. Modern facilities (wifi, shower, swimming pool etc.) are there but historical details dominate. Staff members are very helpful. Receptionists, some speak English, can guide you through the hotel and nearby area. Very nice guys and ladies. I had my suitcase broken during the trip to Paraty. A maintenance guy fixed it in less than an hour:- saved my trip, really grateful to the guy. Breakfast is in a very nice old style beautiful restaurant. It is a la carte, which is great for not overeating, and service is a high quality one. Historical part of the town is quite small and walkable, all that could be done in 2-3 hours. Overall, a very nice pleasant stay in a historical building, really enjoyed it. Thanks a lot and all the best to the property staff members.
