This is an amazing historic resort. It has been well kept over the years. The new owners are doing renovations to the room and just giving things a new Fresh lift. The formal dining room hasn't reopened as of yet. The pub is open. Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. not sure how late it stays open for beers. They do serve breakfast lunch & dinner. I highly recommend Onion Rings and Chicken Tacos!! Amazing views from every seat! Beautiful ocean front patios for pub and formal dining area. Overall it was clean. I would imagine we were in a pet friendly room. We are pet friendly people but didn't bring ours. With a view like that, I would expect the windows and French doors to be sparkly clean as they were quite dirty. They even could use a little razor scrape to get some paint off. There's lots of doggy smudges. A good amount of webs in the higher up corners. Some leftover decorations stapled to the wooden Valance above the French door and windows. Small-ish details but I feel like a resort that beautiful deserves the extra effort from the cleaning staff. I definitely still left a tip because all of the important stuff was clean. There is an ice bucket provided and you can ask the bar for ice. Our room had a cube fridge. There's a K-Cup machine ground level so we had a really nice patio. We also saw orca right from our patio. There is a beautiful Pier & dock during the season. Parking kind of sucked but it was worth the short walk for the views from the room.

Was at this hotel 5 years ago and cannot believe how rundown it has gone. It Even had a little store. That’s gone replaced with ugly vending machine! Had to Run to the bar to get ice. Ice Machine has been broken for a long time when it’s dusty in the corner! Hopefully gets rebuilt.

Upon arrival our room was not ready we were not able to get our keys until after 5pm. Had dinner in restaurant - staff were friendly and attentive. It looked like our room was being renovated. There was no closets to hang our clothes in or store our shoes in. there was no toilet paper roll dispenser the bathroom. One window had curtain missing so early morning light cam right before we wanted to be awoken. Also our room was #11 in Main building right above the restaurant. There was a live band playing and music which travelled very loudly into our room until 9:00pm. We had just come to rest and relax and get away from the noise only to get more of it. Overall the staff were empathetic about our situation suggested we sit in there lounge area or come into the restaurant and enjoy the music. We were just far too tired.

The building is old and, although it has improved compared to previous years when we visited, it is still far from being well maintained. It feels like there is a lack of care and investment. That said, the surroundings are beautiful, with great views and a very peaceful atmosphere, which partly makes up for it. The most frustrating part was that at 6:50 pm we were not allowed into the restaurant for dinner because we had two children, as it is not considered family-friendly at that time. This was completely unacceptable and very poorly handled. We were left without any option and had to go out to find somewhere else to eat, which was very inconvenient.

We arrived for our check in and the room was open. The door was unlocked… this is concerning as it was on the other side of the property. While we were unpacking a staff member used their master key and just walked in. Asked us a bunch of questions like who were we and why were we there? Then left only to come in again with the master key to educate us on how to use the deadbolt. Hot water was pretty weak and the bathroom was a tiny cell. This all in their “ocean view suite “ Finally, the wallpaper was torn, the room was outdated and the lamp didn’t work. When we brought it to the front desk attention their response was to give us 15% off our next visit if we call ahead.

The suite that we were in could use some work. It was missing little things that could have made the suite better. There is no toilet paper holder, no closet to hang clothes and no lids for the coffee to go cups. When we first arrived, there was toilet paper in the toilet, which made me think if the bathroom had been cleaned because there was also stains on the toilet seat. The property was nice with ocean views. The restaurant was nice with good service and the food was decent.

The room was dirty. There was hair from the previous person in the shower on the toilet and on the bed . there was also toothpaste on the sink. in the morning I went to the front desk to get them to clean when I came back and checked they hadn’t cleaned the bathroom. They did manage to vacuum the floor and take out the garbages .Cleaning service needs attention.

They are certainly making quite a few improvements to their rooms. Huge TV, the shower is really nice. We did end up staying there before they had installed anywhere to hang our wet coats, but oh well, we made do. Our biggest disappointment was that we didn't get to use the pool because they were waiting on an inspection. But that's beyond their control. Look forward to May 2026. That's when they figure that all the upgrades will be done. This is the second time we have stayed at Painter's lodge, and there is a reason. The rooms are simple (what we have gotten anyway), and the location is lovely with spectacular views. The staff is great and very gracious. The pub food is really good. The main building has nice seating areas to sit by the fire, or to play games. It's very welcoming.

Unfortunately, while my wife and I were very excited to visit the very well know and popular facility like Painter's our night was without much sleep. From 2:15 AM until after 4:00 AM, our floor was so noisy we could get no sleep. Doors banging and loud voices throughout the night. Very disappointing.

While Painter's Lodge comes with a lot of hoopla, it didn't live up to its billing. Very loud neighbours. Tried to call the front desk, phones weren't working. Had to get out of bed at 2 am to go discuss my concerns. They weren't addressed at the time. After the stay received a 50% discount. Too little too late. Unfortunately, will choose elsewhere in the future.

Issues with black mould in the bathroom, all the way up into the ceiling, bed was hard, old and very creaky, breakfast in the restaurant was not edible. Paid $25 for meat omelet that could not be eaten due to griddle oil taste, excess pepper that was mixed into the omelette, fresh tomato slices were warm, soggy, and mushy. Informed that it was my choice, not to eat the omelet and therefore had to pay for it.
